Montevarchi is located 25 miles (40 kilometers) southeast of Florence and about 120 miles (193 kilometers) northwest of Rome, the capital of Italy.
While it can be tempting to limit yourself to just the local sights when visiting Montevarchi, don't forget, Tuscany's treasure-trove of scenic delights are never more than a day trip away. If you can, drop in on Reggello, 11 miles (18 kilometers) from Montevarchi. In Reggello, you can check out the Abbazia di Vallombrosa and Fashion Valley. For more things to do, visit the Praetorian Palace and Buriano Bridge and Penna Natural Reserve which you'll find in and around Civitella in Val di Chiana, about 12 miles (19 kilometers) away from Montevarchi.
Gaiole in Chianti, is another interesting spot to discover. It is 8 miles (13 kilometers) from Montevarchi and offers a wide range of points of interest, for example Meleto Castle, Medieval Tower of Barbischio and Gaiole in Chianti Stadium. Gaiole in Chianti has much of interest for visitors happy to delve a little deeper. Church of San Sigismondo and Castle of Brolio are some of the other sights not to miss.
