A lovely location and relatively good value for money, but the Rainforest rooms themselves are very tired and long overdue for a reno. No powerpoints next to the beds is a real pain, and would take 5 mins for an electrician to install. Note that the Rainforest rooms are in a separate facility away from the reception/bar/restaurant/beachfront rooms, which I'm sure are much nicer. Staff were great and the meals at Buko are excellent.

I booked and stayed in the rainforest room, this section of the resort is across the road from the beach rooms. The rainforest rooms should be demolished/ condemned. Toilet blocked up every afternoon, sliding doors to patio did not close tight leaving a gap at the top of the doors. Peeling paint on ceilings and bath tub. Stayed 3 nights and was told by staff that Rainforest Rooms do not receive a mid stay freshen up. As a local to the Far North, I won’t be booking these rooms again. On a plus side the bed was comfy and the water was hot in the shower.

We stayed in the cheaper rainforest part of the resort, beautiful garden and quiet, hard to figure out where to park , drove past a few time before we figured out entrance, too tight to angle park outside our room so went out the front and parked on grass. Mirror had toothpaste splattered on it , but the bed was the worst bed I have ever slept on , it dipped in the middle and made creaking noises and kept pinging ever time I moved , so bad . The breakfast was nice after the confusion on if I had paid or not through 3 staff members, I had paid the evening before on a check in . anyway probably will stay again but not in the rainforest side 😳

Food great as always. 1st time in a more cost effective room as overnight stay only. Room was better than anticipated. Room has had a revamp, bathroom revamp best as able without a new one. Confusion on leaving regarding our costs due. Additional amount charged 2 hrs after departure without notification. Not disputing the fee though a phone call or message would have been appreciated.

Great stay
The main building is excellent, staff are very friendly and helpful, restaurant is great and the pool is clean and relaxing. However we stayed in a room over the road in the rainforest section, which is cheaper - the main problem was we were on the ground floor so got a lot of bugs in our room

Pool at the Rainforest Rooms was not overly inviting & requires some new furniture. Very poor in comparison to the main resort. Great location within walking distance to all the restaurants, cafes & bars. Can recommend the roast veg salad with basil pesto @ the pub. Absolutely delicious 😋

The main property is stunning with a perfect location on the beach however the rooms out of the resort and shabby and in need of uodating. Check in lady was absolutely lovely.

The rainforest rooms were previously known as Mackay's and are about 50 metres from the main resort. Good atmosphere, great staff, friendly vibe. The main and best reason for us staying in the Rainforest rooms is the price compared to the main resort, as all amenities of both properties are available to guests - best of both worlds!

Have stayed at Castaways a few times on business over the years, and mostly found it to be pretty good. Somehow this time, we were in an old 1950's style motel next door - badly in need of renovations, and cockroaches everywhere at night. Two things that were good - the double bed, and the young girl who served us breakfast each morning who was excellent, and would be welcomed at any 5 star restaurant - don't know her name, but I did give her a wrap to the receptionist.

We stayed in the rainforest rooms which are older and cheaper than those in the main resort, they are generous in size have been refurbished are very clean and comfortable and great value. All the modern amenities in main resort are available just a 50m stroll away. Lovely relaxed atmosphere in bar and restaurant ,excellent dinner Reception staff friendly and efficient

The Main part of the resort was absolutely amazing. Clean and appealing and staff were all lovely. I stayed in the Rainforest Section which was off site from the main part of the resort. Unfortunately not as nice at the main part of the resort. Very old, tired and dated. The driveway was gravel and made so much noise when someone was pulling in. You could park your car undercover but they way it was organised either your boot was almost touching the room door or if you parked a bit further out then the other cars could not get past. The pool area was in terrible need of some updating and repair. the pool gate had the top of the safety latch missing and had spiders inside. There was a pool deck that needed painting and the glass safety barrier was leaning in towards the pool. The room itself was clean and tidy. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast included was really great. A free continental breakfast and if you were a guest you could upgrade to a full hot meal for only $10 plus the continental. Overall I would definitely stay here again but I will stay on-site in the man resort.

The resort section was excellent. We stayed in the Rainforest rooms. The inside was quite good with comfortable bed. The bathroom was dated. The outside of the building was unattractive, our veranda was dirty and wet. The pool area appeared good but furniture was covered in green mould. Fortunately we could use the resort pool.

We stayed overnight . It was a lovely quiet hotel . Comfortable bed , clean room . The continental breakfast was really good . We will stay again . The pool was also great .

A Night in Mission!
A one night stay only (sadly) but reception staff, both we encountered were fabulous! Louise was great and handled a parking issue efficiently and effectively as did the other staff member (apologies I have forgotten your name). Afternoon drinks gazing at that amazing view WOW amd breakfast the next morning, continental included in price, cooked breakfast for an additional charge. All in all a good stay. Yes, the rainforest rooms are a 2 minute walk away from the main complex but very clean,freshly painted, comfortable bed, good shower rose and hot hot water...was a lovely way to break our road trip!

Leider haben wir ein Zimmer bekommen, in das aufgrund der wunderschönen Vegetation kein Licht einfällt - was auch bei Sonnenschein das Einschalten von Licht im Zimmer erforderlich macht. Das Zimmer ist also dunkel und muffelig, die Einrichtung sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Da wir nur eine Nacht hier waren, habe ich darauf verzichtet, um ein anderes Zimmer zu bitten. Was sehr gut funktioniert ist das W-lan. Das Bett ist sehr bequem und alles ist sehr sauber. Die Außenanlagen sind sehr gepflegt. Wer es aber richtig schön haben will, sollte im Mutterhaus am Strand nächtigen. Für 1-2 Nächte ok.

Nous avons été placés dans l'annexe "Rainforest" de l'hôtel où le stationnement est très exigu et où le wifi fonctionne très mal (voire pas du tout). Néanmoins, la chambre était spacieuse et confortable. Nous avons très bien dormi. Le lendemain, nous avons tout de même bénéficié de la jolie vue sur la plage de Mission Beach grâce au très bon petit déjeuner inclus. Le personnel est très agréable.
