“Beautiful building in the heart of the City”
I am not sure why this hotel had such a poor review before but my wife and I had a stunning time here. The rooms are just as pictured and although not huge, the décor and quality of the furnishings are pure luxury. It was hard to get out of bed such was the great nights sleep! The hotel is on the main street (Calle 60) in the city centre and is therefore in an ideal position for exploring this wonderful place. The surrounding architecture is amazing. The road was closed at night and became a pedestrian zone but I am not sure if this always happens or only on weekends. We never sampled the breakfast but the food at other times was first class and if you dine outside the night views of the Cathedral are spectacular. We will be visiting Merida again and so were in two minds as to leave a glowing review as it will mean more people will use it. We liked it not being over run with guests!! This is the place we will stay on our return though and if you want a beautiful hotel in a city centre location that is well priced then look no further. Forgot to mention that the staff are all excellent and can't do enough for you, especially the porters that also do the valet parking.
“utterly satisfied”
an older hotel with lots of character. location is fantastic - 1/2 block from the central square and historical buildings. the staff took great care of us - even arranging a customized tour. very clean rooms and public areas, we had an excellent experience!
“Great location for the Plaza Grande”
We chose the hotell for its closeness to the square as it is only about a half block away. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean but it is very small so if you plan to spend any time there you would feel cramped. This didn't bother us as we planned only to sleep there. We had breakfast in the restaurant the next morning and it was good too.
“Great experience at Piedra de Agua”
we loved the hotel. was quite hard to find cos it's in a pedestrian zone but when we got there it was amazing. especially the courtyard is great. everything's easy to accessible by foot.
“I would go back!”
Great location, walking distance to the main sites in Merida. Beautiful XVI century building. Great service!
“Great Location”
The hotel and staff were great. Upon arrival at the hotel the staff gave me a cold refreshing drink and a nice tour of the hotel. The brick oven pizza is really good. I had a room overlooking the street and didn't really have a problem with noise as they have double doors to the balcony that really cut the noise. I go to Merida a couple times a year and will definitely stay here again next year.
“Great hotel”
I would recommenf this hotel based on location, character of the hotel, and a great staff that was extremely helpfull.
“Beautiful Hotel in the middle of Merida”
Despite only being there for less than a day, our stay at the Piedra de Agua was very nice. We traveled with another family, so the grown-ups sat around in the outdoor area while the kids splashed in the pool. The wait service was extremely friendly and helpful in selecting a nice place for us to eat.
“Family weekend”
We had a Great experience during our stay at Piedra de Agua. The 'centro' of Merida is enchanting and this hotel is right in the middle of the action and only three houses from the main cathedral. The restaurant offers great fresh pizzas from the pizza oven at night which was great option for kids as well as adults. We traveled in a group of 11 between kids and adults and this hotels worked very well for us.
