“Lacking for hotel of this level”

THe hotel doesn't promote itself as luxury, but seemed subpar to me even for a 3 star property. For $10 more, one could have stayed at the luxury Hyatt, Intercontinental or Fiesta Americana hotel. Room was very small, just barley big enough for 2 beds. Hotel was low occupancy yet gave us this sub standard room even though we had paid for "executive room" . AC did not work but was repaired. THere was never any hot water in the shower, not even warm, that was never resolved. The "Free" Wireless internet did not work in the room, and was inconsistent in the lobby. Spent several hours in the restaurant where I was able to get a mostly consistent signal. Front desk staff rude to indifferent in attitude most of the time. Bell Staff helpful. Location great for center city exploring, but I have been to Merida several times, and much better hotels are available for this price or slightly more in the same area. I would never recommend to anyone.
