“Very comfortable and convenient hotel”
We found this hotel to be very comfortable and convenient. The room was spacious with a well stocked kitchenette. We were lucky enough to have a small balcony with city views enhancing out stay. With a tram stop almost outside the front door it had easy access to the city as well as a number of good restaurants within easy walking distance, The staff were extremely helpful and cheerful. We would definitely stay here again.
“Great hotel!”
Very unique hotel with friendly staff. Enjoyable stay throughout!
“Return trip almost as good!”
This is my 3rd stay at this place in 12 months even though there was a welcome card in my room, especially as I am a "returner",I wasn't as happy as previously! May be I'm too contrary, but I didn't think the staff were as helpful as previously. The room standard was great, although I do wish the pillows weren't so soft! I'm basing my less than 100% review on two poor dining experiences at the restaurants associated with the hotel. On the Friday evening we ate at the noodle place, the TuHong Dumpling Bar,we hadn't booked,it was early,it was empty, when we asked for a table we were very begrudgingly given one (Oh sir doesn't have a booking the Maitre'd seemed to be saying, hardly welcoming)and one out the back and only on the condition were were out by a certain time,I would have thought the time it takes a couple it eats is determined by the speed the food is served myself! The food itself was ok,the dumplings great ,a scallop dish pretty goodbut a prawn dish with a spring onion sauce.disappointing! On the saturday morning we ate in Terrace Bar and Bistro.A very disappointing, and expensive mistake! I had a gluggy omelette, my partner a french toast concoction which tasted of just fried egg and served with a "poached" apple which was hard and inedible, both accompanied by luke warm, watery coffee, not a happy experience. If you want a good breakfast go across the road to the Prahran Markets and have a great meal at the Aroma Bakery and Cafe, twice the taste, half the cost! !
“dramatic and energetic the Cullen is a must!”
The Cullen it was fantastic to stay in a hotel that had an amazing character - the Cullen works were dramatic and energetic and add to the theatre. the dilemma was do I really have to leave! more nights next time I think. the hotel and service were outstanding, it was the best stay in a long time - in fact only a couple of hours after booking the hotel guest services called to confirm the booking and ask if there was anything else they could help with - you got to say that is service. Can't wait until the next in the series are completed - one would anticipate actually moving hotels on an art tour to experience all artists. well done! a must!
“Would stay again”
Hotel is awesome, however needs improvement of concierge services.
“Bringing the family back as soon as!”
We had a great time at the Cullen, the staff were friendly and helpful.
“Like staying in a Gallery”
Excellent location, huge rooms, great art work, polite and helpful staff. Would stay there again.
“Clean, convenient, stylish”
Highly recommended. Great location on a tram route, opposite Prahran market. Room was in excellent condition, quiet, clean, comfortable and stylish.
“Trendy art hotel in fab location!”
The Cullen is a fabulous hotel in Melbourne and one of my favourite's as I travel here every 6 weeks and love the Artsy, trendy vibe plus it's convenient location to Chapel st Shops, restaurants, Fitness First and is a 15 minute walk to South Yarra/Botanical gardens. Rooms are cozy and very modern. Highly recommended!
“Comments”
We didn't know very much about the Art Series Boutique Hotels and nothing about Adam Cullen (other than recognising his work) who the hotel is named after. Found the whole concept "very quaint" and enjoyed seeing all the art work in the rooms, reception area and throughout the hotel. The rooms were well designed and plush. The Hotel was aimed at a youger crowd (30s - 40s) and we felt very at home there. The cafe and staff was excellent. The hair salon a little over priced. The gym was a bit minimalist with only lighter weights and no pool despite the hotel rating 5 stars.
