Convenient, walkable, super clean, friendly
Very convenient across from Mainz HBF train station. 15 minute walk to old city center. Friendly, accommodating staff. Super clean updated rooms. Parking ramp a bit inconvenient right now due to street construction, otherwise less than a block away. Restaurants nearby walkable.

Great location in Mainz.
We only stayed for one night but this was an amazing hotel. From check-in to checkout the staff were so friendly. The bed was massive and great sized room on the 6th floor. Great view over the main train station to people watch. We used this as a base to travel to the Weisbaden Christmas Market and then the Mainz Christmas Market. Would definitely stay here again.

I had a one night stay in Mainz for the Christmas Markets. I was traveling by train and the Hammer is right at the station. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The hotel staff could not have been nicer and more helpful in getting me to Frankfurt during the German rail strike. I give them 5 plus stars for their help and understanding of my situation. Nothing negative to report.

Cold!! 11 degrees outside 11 degrees in the room! The heater were on maximum but not heating at all! We have a queen bed but two single blanket( not even duvet ) minibar had charge even water!! Evening receptionist was fine but next morning receptionist behaving rude! We had to show the room key for her to believe we are staying there!

Great hotel - very good value for money
Great hotel by the station and within walking distance of all the sights, the hotel was clean and comfortable and had a generous breakfast buffet selection. The room itself was a good size, very quiet due to effective soundproofing. The staff were welcoming and helpful - we really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is located across the street from the train station and there are busses, street cars and taxis all around. People are bustling about and the adjacent streets are very interesting for people watchers. One can walk in various directions and feel a part of the city, including the Gutenberg Museum and the very nice plaza near it with music and good food. The entrance to the hotel is so low key you could miss it. Inside is very nicely decorated - our room on the 6th floor was really nice - note that it faced the train station and the sounds of people outside were pretty loud but enjoyable for us. We liked looking down at the scene. Anyone wanting real quiet should request a room that did not face in that direction. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Updated and clean
We picked the Hammer for its location, directly across the street from Mainz Hbf and are glad we did. It was anlso only about a 20-minute walk to the Altstadt to grab dinner. Reception staff were friendly, and we were surprised at how clean and comfortable the updated room was. Fortunately it had an A/C unit because our room faced the busy train station and it would’ve been very noisy with the window open. We left early in the morning before the breakfast was open, but the desk clerk still invited us in to get a coffee and muffin to go. We would definitely stay here again.

Second rental within a month. The first one was extremely quiet and reasonably priced. The second one was larger while keeping the same quality. It was what they call a penthouse, which is a larger room. BUT: - They don't specify in the advertisement (or at least not clearly enough) that the elevator doesn't lift you up to the top. Or there might be a separate elevator from 5 to 6, but I haven't found it. - The espresso coffee maker produces water, which is a good start, but a bit light for my taste. Again, maybe because I don't know how to use it, but in this case a quick explanation panel would be nice. I'm a Bialetti guy, so all the electrical devices are beyond my reach. - The penthouse on 6th floor was not as quiet as the room on second floor. I had the impression that the street noises come from the ceiling. As a general evaluation, it was fair and low priced. If you trust your arms and legs, and feel confident you are able to lift heavy suitcases together with your own body, then this room is for you.

Too busy for me
The front desk staff were nice and the check in went well. The room however did not seem very clean. We had 4 flies in the room and there was a strange smell. The bathroom floor was sticky with who knows what but we made sure not to walk in there with bare feet. The location was right across the street from the train station so there was a lot of people everywhere and some unsavory ones at that. I was surprised by the rating the hotel had after staying there. The breakfast was fair but they did not keep up with stocking the items.

Blackout curtain did not work for one window and lights from train depot and street bright throughout night. Maintenance only comes on Saturday. On last day offered to change rooms but wouldn’t be ready til afternoon. Did not give us any compensation not even fre3 breakfast. Tub was great but very slippery. Needs a mat.

Great hotel in front of Central station.
Location is great and perfect for me. It is located in front of Central station. I did not have to walk more than 5 minutes with my luggage on cobblestones road. Easy to go to FRA airport by train. My room faced station, but it was not noisy.(and I like to watch station area through the window) The room was clean and not so small. Bright room. small fridge. An iron and an ironing board. The room has A/C(I not use). Good Wifi. Enough outlets. Hotel has lift. Unfortunately my room did not have a Kettle. 　 Hotel staff were friendly. The hotel did not have Washing/Dryer for gusts, BUT according hotel web they have Washing/Dryer for guests. It was disappointed. Please correct your information accurate.

Exceptional service
Had a bad experience where my daughter was denied university accommodation. The hotel management went above and beyond accommodating her alongside me even though they were full and my daughter didn’t have a booking. Nothing was too much trouble and they really helped us out of a jam. Will definitely stay here again when I’m next in Mainz.

Very welcoming front desk, good breakfast, clean well presented room. Only downside was that the shower temperature control was broken - hotel should have known about this obvious fault. Would be happy to stay again but NZ is a long way away from Mainz, Germany.
