Great hostel. Front desk was nice and helpful. Room was clean but a little hot. Hostel is a little far from the city. Took an uber to the city but the hostel is in a nice quiet spot.

Great spot
Awesome place. It was a little further away for us but great likely for those who don’t want to be too amidst the hustle and bustle of a more central location. Easy train access via Canada Water station to go just about anywhere in Central London or the surrounding areas. Breakfast buffet was very inexpensive and fantastic! Great stay overall and would book again for sure if I was lookin to stay in that area.

It is in a very nice area and accessible by raip and walking from LHR. little upset about hidden fees that didn't show up on Expedia

Excellent stay at YHA London Thameside
Unbelievably friendly gentleman at the reception desk! Even though it's beyond the control of the hostel, other guests were equally respectful of shared space and discreet during "quiet" hours. I did not have trouble getting rest in a 6-person dorm. Room was very clean considering the circumstances and so was the kitchen - well organized and rules clearly laid out for everyone. Lots of in-house food options and things to rent for people travelling light. YHA London Thameside was what I needed for my stay but make sure it is for you as well as it is slightly on the outskirts of London (to my tourist eyes). However, I had no trouble getting to the center with nearby Overground and bus services!

Great budget stay.
Great hostel stay; good location; excellent staff and breakfast; typical hostel beds (but they were made!). 2 GBP for a towel, but the towels were big and good. Would definitely recommend it.

Easy check in and check out process. I appreciated the late check in option as the LNR trains were on strike so I didn't get to the hostel til 12AM. Only stayed for 1 night, but location to the Tube was convenient.

Disappointed, Hostel used to be better

Caters to a disruptive and destructive group of young people discouraging adult guests from staying. I left - no refund - without using any of three rooms shown. Needs to become an elder-hostel for over 35s to stay, learn and see the sights. Rooms had been Vaped in or used as laundry favilities.

They allowed us to check in quite late. We spent the day exploring London then checked in close to midnight. The rooms were clean and fairly quiet.

Excellent Place to Stay
We arrived early and they checked us in , it was very nice of them. Overall, this hostel is very nice. It is located in a very nice area , clean facility and easy access to train station just 6 minutes walk to Rotherhithe Station and 15 minutes walk to Canada Water. Very friendly staff and helpful.

Front desk staff were very helpful, housekeeping staff were polite and rooms were clean. Loved the full kitchen for self-catering - it had a microwave, stovetop, oven, fridge and dishes. There were minor problems with some of the equipment - certain outlets weren’t functional and there was a leak in the bathroom. However, as soon as issues were mentioned to the staff, they were quickly fixed. Only real problem was that the wifi didn’t reach our room.

Comfortable stay
Neat and clean rooms. Big and open lobby with a really nice cafe/lounge. Good breakfast - if you decide to buy it. Great value for money. I would love to stay here again. The water pressure in the shower could be slightly more though

Really great hostel in a good location near Rotherhithe overground station. The staff are lovely, they even found me a cheaper room without needing to. Bargain London stay. Good cheap breakfast. Comfy bed in a perfectly adequate little room with private bathroom. Even had a view of the city that you wouldn’t even get in an expensive hotel. Would heartily recommend if you’re travelling on a budget.

Great Value
The hostel was in a convenient place for our visit to our son in Canada Water. The room was basic but had everything we needed. The overall decor and bathroom could do with a bit of updating. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hostel was secure and quiet. It had a bar open until 2am for drinks and coffee. We would stay here again, good value for money so close to the centre of London

Very bad check-in experience
The room is fine, with the amount you paid can’t expect much anyway. But the check in experience is terrible. I booked 2 Quadruple rooms via Expedia and received the email confirmation as well. It turned out that the hostel only reserved 1 Quadruple room for 8 of us and the receptionist claimed that their system received only 1 room under this booking. I can understand if it’s a system error but the receptionist insisted it was my wrong and only made 1 room booking despite of showing her multiple times the email confirmation received from Expedia. Next she was able to get us a 6-bed room but expected us to pay the rate of the day which is more expensive than the rate I booked. This is so ridiculous. The kitchen helpers that serving the breakfast was very unfriendly too. Their customer service is really terrible, highly not recommended regardless how cheap the rate.

The hostel itself was great. The area is perfect as well but it is a bit of a commute to get there from central London. My only criticism would be gaining access at night, the intercom doesn’t work properly so reception does not want to open for you. I would stay there again without question. The beds all have there own light, plug and usb points. The rooms could use some more lockers though.

So much potential - not always fulfilled
This is my second time staying at the hostel because overall I must say it’s a nice place to stay. However - there are elements that could be improved. Firstly, the showers. I stayed in three different rooms on this visit and only one had a decent shower. For me, this is a critical factor when reviewing a place because it singularly embodies attention to detail. A good shower should not be a luxury in a developed country that receives as much rain as the U.K. does. Secondly, kitchen equipment is poor. Again, the space itself is wonderful, but let down by inferior utensils and appliances. In addition, the cups are just too small for a decent hot drink. More like dolls crockery. Lastly, the staff. Whilst there are one or two who clearly do know how to do their job, as a cohort i find them to be apathetic and uncaring. More training in basic hospitality is definitely required here. Overall, I still like the place - but it could easily be made so much better!!
