The reception staff are mostly attentive and very friendly (though my father did wait until 11:30pm for someone to fix his shower and they never showed up). The rooms are best described as 'need updating urgently'. Although adequate and reasonably clean, my bed sheet has holes in it from what looked like cigarette burns, the shower came off (as did the shower door of my parent's room) and the toilet roll holder came off the wall every time you tried to grab a piece of paper. In the end we had to remove the entire roll and place it on the floor. We also found it to be very noisy as our room was next to the breakfast area and kitchen so were woken every morning with cutlery noise and chairs being scraped. I will say that the breakfast is good and the staff attending are very nice. They gave me ginger and lemon tea when my throat was sore. The location is also great. The area seems to be undergoing heavy redevelopment but the back streets of Karakoy contain some very trendy eateries. It is also not too far to walk across the bridge to the other side.

Perfect place to stay
The location was perfect for my needs. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the construction of new harbor across the street. View from the room was magnificent.

Actually I can't find suitable words that could describe this nice place. Shortly you feel home. They are very generous , Jovial and hospitable. They are also highly cooperated with their customers, especially Mr Hakan SAL the front office Manager he always assist us and the reception they always take care of us. Everything is new also you feel comfort there. The location of this hotel is vital and strategic location near to all transportation (metro bus station and even port), markets , old places and restaurants and cafes . Therefore you can take a city tour just by walk and you can’t feel alone there. Finally there prices is very reasonable and good related to their quality of services. I recommend this hotel highly for all tourists that want to enjoy their vacation in Istanbul.

Great staff and location in Instanbul.
Just wanted to leave a little note that the staff at this hotel are great. Every single person made sure we were taken care of. The location is awesome and I woudn't hesitate to book here again.

The staff are friendly and hotel was clean over all. The location of the property is far from the city center and tourist attraction.There are are a lot of construction works around the property which deprive you from a expected sound and clean area.Hotel lacks some urgent amenities such as toothpaste and offers a basic breakfast, etc .

Nice hotel .. close to the tram and restaurants. Not very happy with the construction across the street that was causing all the noise. Very helpful staff to get things arranged for you Breakfast could be better though. Overall it was a good stay.

Nice friendly hotel close to public transport
My wife and I booked the hotel for a few days. First off it is very convenient to get to and from the airport taking around 1hour on the metro or tram, just changing the once. The tram stop is literally a few mins walk giving access to most of the attractions. On arrival the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and check in was very smooth. The room we booked was very clean and well kept and what was better than expected considering the price that we paid. Breakfast on the top floor was an added touch and in a clear day can see all the tourist hotspots, including prince island. Tim

Fantastic hotel close to attractions
This was my third stay at this hotel and we will be returning again next month. The staff are amazing and the rooms lovely and clean. Round the corner to a very cool neighbourhood with cafes restaurants and bars. Has a great vibe. I have recommended this hotel to friends and family .

A comfortable place to stay. Within easy walking of attractions such as İstanbul Modern, Galata Tower and Isketel. Very handy to tram, ferry and buses Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Karakoy has many cafes and eating options enjoyed by locals.

Small & nice place in Karakoy
It was an amazing stay and actually we stayed here again after almost 10 days during our holidays trip of 2 weeks. Our first stay here was on Sep. 05 & 06 before leaving for southern part of country and enjoyed our stay so much that decided to stay again in same hotel. Well the location is the best part as you can walk to tram station, sea front, Galata tower and to Taksim also (its little long walk though). Its a small hotel with very kind and courteous staff with buffet served on top floor restaurant with nice view. I highly recommend my fellow travellers to stay in tis hotel.

Staff is the best in this hotel. Our room was cleaned every day. They don't have gel shower among the amenties , only soap, shampoo and condition. but they give me body losion for additional moisturazing in case of soap usage. Breakfast is average. Lots of options but not tasty. Soundproffing is zero. You can hear everything that is going on behind the wall. Also area is very noisy: construction works, party street. Music at night is very load on weekends

Probably one of the best hotels in Istanbul
Incredible value for money. What a lovely and helpful staff. Zero disappointments.Great location. Very central. Super convenient. Breakfast terrace has a beautiful view of the Bosphorus with the bridge. Room was spacious. Breakfast was nice.

Comfortable hotel in good area
The hotel staff were very friendly and had arranged a free shuttle from the airport for us. Upon our arrival they explained the area and provided us with an Istanbulkart to use on the public transport system - the nearest tram is around 200m away which takes you directly into Sultanahmet in less than 10 minutes. Our room was clean and comfortable with views over the Bosphorous. Free breakfast was on the sixth floor with an excellent range of food and views over the Bosphorous. Karakoy is an interesting area with lots of small cafes and some good restaurants. We ate locally most nights and were not disappointed by any of our choices - Gumruk and Karakoy Lokanta were both outstanding in food and service and the fish restauants near the pier were very good value.. Overall a great hotel in an interesting area with good transport links.

We stayed one night in this hotel on the way from Ankara to Chicago. Hotel was very clean and very well decorated. It has very nice view of Bosphorus and Leandreas Tower. Hotel staff was vey courteous and help full. I wish we had more time to enjoy this hotel.

Fantastic Hotel close to the cruise port!
We stayed 1 night prior to our cruise and then 1 night after our cruise. The hotel staff, Serkon, Behruz, Sabri, Hadi and Borough were all so friendly and helpful. They were constantly willing to help us get tea and directed us to a great place for supper, to the tram for sight seeing and whatever else we needed. We throughly enjoyed our experience from the moment we got out out the taxi late at night and they were outside the door waiting for us as the taxi driver got lost. The rooms were very quaint with gold trim on everything. Very Turkish. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel!

A real pearl of a hotel.
We chose this hotel as it was near the cruise ship terminal. Wow! What a great little boutique hotel, with only 22 rooms and a small, top floor enclosed terrace for breakfast overlooking the Bosphorous. Our compact room was on the 4th floor and had a partial sea view. Comfortable bed with cream and gilt furniture, marble tiled bathroom with amenities, tea and coffee making facilities. Staff were very helpful, whether at reception or in service areas. Tea, coffee and cakes available all day in lobby. Near the Istanbul Modern Museum, restaurants and tram line. Within walking distance of Taskim Square and the Galatea Tower. We really recommend a stay at the Karakoy Port Hotel.

This small hotel offers personalized service and a convenient location to the port for cruise ships. Outstanding breakfast buffet included in stay. Staff recommended a restaurant for dinner and after walking there found it had been closed for some time. No fitness facilities. Rooms are quiet and small but ample.

Perfect location for cruise passengers
The hotel staff is excellent and helped us find restaurants and good places to visit. They arranged cabs and made sure we were not cheated on the fares. The rooms are small but nice bathroom fixtures and shower. Very comfortable for 2 nights visiting before our cruise started.

Great people working there!
Location is great if you are taking a cruise and want to be at the ship instantly. We walked to a very nice restaurant for dinner and looked in some shops along the way. Hotel is adorable on the outside. Lobby is beautiful and has tea and some kind of baked goods available when you first come in. People who work there are so hospitable and helpful. They know everything and can help you with whatever you want. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that we ordered a room with two beds and a partial ocean view and it was confirmed. When we got there we were taken to a room with one bed with a partial ocean view. When I pointed this out to them they immediately took us to another room with two beds but there was no ocean view and on one wall the wallpaper was peeling off and it looked like there was mold under it.

Character by the Port
I visit Istanbul often, and was the first time I didn't stay in Galata area. My flight was getting in very late, or very very early morning. After calling the hotel they were very helpful about my arrival. The staff were always positive and helpful when needed. The room was clean and I found the experience relaxing, much needed after a long day walking through the bustling city. Room style is classic, and exceeded my expectations. Breakfast had enough selection, and the view from the breakfast room was spectacular. Staff helped with taxis and figuring how to get to places.

Hotel is in a great location if you will be taking a cruise as the port is just down the street. Otherwise, not much around. But the tram is just a one min walk from the hotel so that is very convenient. Hotel is within walking distance (10-15 min) of Istiklal Street which is great for shopping as long as you don't mind walking up hill. Staff at hotel are very nice and accommodating. Breakfast was pretty good and offered a great view of the city from the terrace. No tub in bathroom but shower was very large.

We had one final day in Istanbul and we were tred from 10 days of constant travelling. When I saw the hotel from outside, I was impressed. The decor and lighting made the hotel lookk fancy. The receptionist (Borah), helped us with the nearby activities for the evening. The rooms were clean, however, there was a window which was broken. because of this, there were a few mosquitoes in the room. The hotel is located around 20 minutes uphill walk to Taksim. Near the hotel, there are a few bars and cafe which are worth a visit. They are on the small streets, where you would usually expect to find nothing but darkness.

The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was tasty and we were able to eat it on the roof terrace with a wonderful view. The room was clean. The furniture is pleasant if a little outdated. That area of Istanbul is becoming more hip and this hotel was in a bit of a timewarp. Unfortunately our window opened onto a wall. A view would have made a huge difference to our experience.

Excellent hotel in every way. Walking distance from port even with luggage. Perfect for cruisers before or after cruise. Friendly, helpful staff. Great buffet in the morning. Location is perfect for dining and last minute shopping. Very accommodating.

With water views and to be within walking distance to the bridge and restaurants for our one night stay in Istanbul. The tram dropped us off only 150m away and our room selected on the 3rd floor gave us good water views with double glazed french doors opening facing the water. Not all rooms have these views (particularly those on lower floors or facing away) so pay a little extra if that is what you require. The bed was comfortable, the room spacious and the staff were absolutely amazing as being a smaller boutique style hotel they are keen to win customer approval and good reviews to keep the bookings coming. The rooftop breakfast was an experience as the views are even better here and the staff encourage large seagulls to visit outside on the window ledge by feeding them.

Great location and service
Karakoy Port Hotel is well located in the Tophane area of Istanbul. There is a tram stop only a 100m away, but we chose to walk everywhere to soak up the city. The laneways behind in Galata is becoming very hip with beautiful cafes and a couple of bars. The hotel picked us up from the airport - no fuss even though we landed early in the morning and check in wasn't until after lunch. They even offered us breakfast on the morning we arrived. The rooms are lovely. TV only had a multiple of channels that we couldn't watch. We would stay here again.

The hotel was in a perfect location for boarding our cruise ship the next day. The staff were all so friendly and helpful in every aspect. The room was clean, had a large bathroom and shower, and great complimentary amenities. The view from the breakfast room and roof was fantastic. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone traveling to Istanbul!

I first stayed at sultanahmet road but that hotel was just oky. This on the other hand was a great hotel with great management. They spoke english very well and helped me through all my questions. The tram is just like 3 mins on walking distance. 3 stops in one direction to sultanahmet and 2 stops in opposite direction to taksim square. So its right in the middle of where you want to be and yet away from too much hussle bussle. Its also close by to the best baklava place in the world ;)

I had high hopes for this hotel after reading the reviews but my stay was far from expectations- Pros: -location was convenient and easy to get to by Tram -Furniture in the rooms was nice, with unique style Cons: -Many mosquitos in our room every night -Very loud at night- you could hear loud music from the restaurant/ club around the corner until the wee hours of the morning -Pigeon nest right next to the building-- very loud in the mornings -The roof leaked with water every time we took a shower, which caused water stains all along the wall -Front desk struggled with giving basic directions on how to get to main sites and attractions
