Among the main leisure activities in the region is golf, with many courses spread across the stunning scenery of Homestead. Play a few rounds at the 18-hole Redland Golf and Country Club.
Visit the Fruit and Spice Park to see the fascinating plants and animals in the 37-acre (15-hectare) botanical garden. Inspect the diverse array of spices, vegetables, fruits and herbs on display in this scenic garden. Nearby is the impressive sculpture garden of the Coral Castle Museum. Examine the castle and statues that artist Edward Leedskalnin carved from coral rock in the first half of the 20th century.
Expect warm to hot weather year-round, with wet and stormy summers. Take advantage of a sunny day for a trip to the beaches and atoll pool of Homestead Bayfront Park. Kids can frolic in the playground, while adults fish from the footpath bridge.
Use the town as a base for exploring the wetlands of Everglades National Park and the Southern Glades as well as the coral reef mazes and islands of Biscayne National Park.
Find Homestead between Everglades National Park and Miami on the southern cape of Florida. Fly to Miami International Airport and drive south for 35 miles (56 kilometers) to get here. Visit other parts of the region, such as the Florida Keys and Kendall.
