Firstly the staff in the bar and restaurant were lovely. Very friendly and welcoming. The bar, seating area and restaurant looked well kept. Shame I can’t say the same about the rooms. A friend and myself stayed for two nights and were shocked when we saw the rooms. They were grubby and tired and in much need of a complete overhaul. For the price charged over one hundred pounds per night, no breakfast included it was overpriced. I’ve stayed at nicer, cleaner places for a lot less. We chose to have breakfast on our second morning before leaving and what can I say? I had scrambled egg on toast….well if you can call it toast. It looked like the cheapest thin cut bread you could buy and if the person cooking the breakfast thought that the bread had been toasted then they shouldn’t be doing the cooking. It was totally inedible so for one cup of coffee and two eggs scrambled it cost nearly eight pounds. Needless to say I wouldn’t recommend this hotel or stay there again.

It was nicely situated on the edge of town, so it was easy to walk into town and also to walk to the coast and pretty bay.

Good value for money
The two members of staff were friendly and welcoming. The large room was cold but we were provided with an additional heater. A coat of paint on skirting and window ledges in bathroom would enhance the room.

Duster ? What duster ?
I usually give positive reviews of hotels or don't bother to give a review at all. In this case I am going to make an exception. The cleanliness / standard of housekeeping at this establishment was dreadful. Thick dust, cobwebs, spiders, mosquitoes, you name it, the Grove has them all. Laziness? Lack of staff ? I don't care about the reasons. Not my problem. Neglect of basic standards is an insult to paying guests. The fact is the state of our room blighted what otherwise would have been a very enjoyable visit to this beautiful Welsh cathedral city. Do visit St. David's. Don't stay at the Grove.

This hotel can do whith an update and I was in room 4 no head board on bed all carpets can do whith a good clean down stairs in lounge earea there was a radiator just lent up against wall but there was a bad smell in the air not shore if I will be returning

Property is run by a pub chain. Bed was comfy and room a little tired in places but clean. Staff need more organisation, friendly enough but they looked scruffy and service was poor. Nice cooked breakfast. Convenient for St. David's and ample parking.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed a pleasant evening meal and subsequent breakfast. Our room was clean and comfortable if a little basic. Whereas the downstairs area is well maintained and ‘modern’, the bedrooms are in need of updating and certainly decorating. Last stayed at the Grove in 2019 and they were promising refurb then. It is yet to happen. But does not deter us from visiting again. Particular mention for bar staff, very good.

This property is desperate for an upgrade I was shocked to see the state of the carpets and how dirty the room was only thing clean were the sheets. To top it all we had no water in the room and the customer service in dealing with this was pretty bad. Never worth 120 per night would never recommend this place the pictures are very deceiving as well when booking on line

Serious attention to building required!
Lovely staff. Hotel, at best can be described as tired, but in reality is in need of some serious work. Our rooms, (we had to be moved as first room smelt of sewage), were not enjoyable. Examples are many but include dirty & cracked paintwork, handle missing off wardrobe, windows ill fitting and black mould, broken remote, bath had dried scum marks and hair and so on.

A very pleasant and friendly stay
A very comfortable stay. The hotel was short staffed but it didnt really show as the managers worked realky hard to do everything. There was a vegan option for cooked breakfast and on the evening menu. My only issue would be no evidence of the Welsh language.
