Such a great hotel--shame they didn't get the basics right...
The staff are absolutely top-notch, especially the kitchen and dining room staff--they really go out of their way to make you happy! The food, equally, is excellent, both at breakfast and dinner--plenty of choice, two cooking stations etc, etc.
The hotel's location is spectacular: even though it's a behemoth, it feels like you're the only person on the island. The beach really is all yours, for miles, and miles, and miles. Excellent pool facilities too.
The lobby is a bit strange; it was designed to be impressive however, it could do with a bit of paint and, more to the point, the rooms were very disappointing... Granted, we stayed in the oldest part of the complex--the bathroom needed a new bathtub (it was visibly rusty), the AC filter was resting on the shoe-shelf for the first two nights, and the bed was appalling: it squeaked if you took a deep breath, yet alone if you moved, and it had virtually zero support.
The lack of WiFi in the rooms, and very slow and temperamental WiFi in the public areas unfortunately, tilted the scales towards no, I wouldn't stay again or recommend the property to a friend.
