Really friendly staff and clean hotel. Not quite the newest fittings and furnishings. Somewhat confusing light switches but homely and comfortable. Only doen mark was on the shower switch that didn't work, so I took a bath.

Hidden gem in an underrated part of town
I chose the hotel because of its location because I am familiar with the area of the town; but I had no idea what a hidden gem this hotel is. Both my friend and I were so pleasantly surprised. The rooms are spacious and very neatly appointed with massive wood furniture and cute deco details (LOVE those red paperweights on the nightstands). The mattresses are comfortable and with the blackout shades a good night's sleep is ensured. Breakfast is served by a super friendly long-time employee (staff retention is always a good sign) with a smile, and should one have any extra wishes I am sure she would make it happen. But the selection is comprehensive anyway, and sets one up for a day of exploring. All in all, the house is well-kept, in good repair, lovingly decorated and the staff enjoy their job serving guests. I couldn't have been happier. A taxi ride from downtown to the hotel is around $12-14 and only takes a few minutes if one is too tired to wait for the bus or streetcar after a day of exploring.

Good value for money
Nice large room and shower, but hotel was completely unstaffed at the desk. We had a key fob to enter, but it didnt work very well.

Not so sweet dreams.
Great location, 15 minutes walk to Dusseldorf Central Railway station and only 5 stops by tram to the centre. Very spacious, clean rooms.The only disappointing part of our stay were the beds, with thin-uncomfortable mattresses and pillows that seemed to have no filling.

The hotel needs updating, the decor could do with freaking up. There is no air conditioning but a fan was provided. The nearby church starts to chime from 7pm so be aware.

Lovely hotel. Nice staff and facilities. I would stay there again when I return to Düsseldorf. My only gripe was the two single mattresses in the double bed but this seems to be standard practice across Europe.

All you need with a quick cab ride to Old Town
Very functional hotel with all of the basic ammenities covered. It was easy to get to and from the Old Town and the Messe. My room was very quiet and I was pleased with the lovely breakfast room and service.

Nice quiet place
Comfortable clean hotel, a little off the beaten track, but that made it quiet. The hotel gave us a bus pass and a map and that made it really easy to get to the old part of he city for a fun evening. We would stay here again

Spotty WiFi but decent location and spacious room
CONS: 1) WiFi would not connect in our room. We talked to reception and found we were able to connect while in the lobby. Once we left the lobby, we would often lose connection. The fact that we could not access WiFi in our room was a huge inconvenience. The front desk did try to reset the router, but unfortunately it did not resolve the connection issue. 2) We were able to borrow some forks from the front desk one night, but the gentleman refused to let us borrow an additional spoon. Perhaps there is a limit, but he did not explain why. 3) If you want to use the sauna in the hotel, you need to let the front desk know so someone can turn it on. We were told it takes about 30 minutes to warm up. We were able to use it successfully for about 30 minutes one night, but on another night, another gentleman insinuated that it was too late for the sauna even though it was 21:00 and sauna hours were until 23:00. He later revealed that he was new on the job and did not know how to turn it on. We asked him to call someone else and he obliged. He called to let us know he turned it on, but he may not have used the right settings because it was not warm even after 30 minutes and we were able to sit in there for a full hour without breaking a sweat. PROS: 1) Drying rack in the bathroom was nice. 2) Room was spacious and clean. 3) The location was pretty convenient for public transit. 4) The hotel will provide a transit pass for the duration of your stay IF YOU ASK.

Lovely hotel in Düsseldorf!
Hotel Lessing was a great stay. Lovely neighborhood. Great restaurant on the corner. Very close to a convenience store and the metro that goes to the airport. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Charming room with big windows. Very nice bathroom. Beds were super comfortable. Church bells and birds chirping. Highly recommend the breakfast. Loved it.

Best hotel we've stayed in
This Hotel Room was one of the best Hotels I've ever stayed in. The room was so quaint and the bed was incredibly comfortable. It was also close (about a 1-2 min. walk) to transit. The staff was also incredibly helpful and went out of their way to make sure you're stay was good. Also go to the breakfast!!! It was delicious. I would normally give this review a 5/5 and if I could I would give it a 4.9/5 but the wifi didn't reach our room and the shower was a little strange. In order not to get water all over the floor you have to stay in the corner in the bath tub where there's a tiny glass wall to cover the water spray. It was impossible for me and there was always water all over the bathroom floor. These are small issues though and we'll definitely come back to this hotel in a couple of months.

A lovely little hotel
A trip to visit the caravan show, and I can't fault the hotel . The room was large with a table, chair, sofa and dressing table. It was clean , and comfortable, and I would stay again. The tram 715 is at the bottom of the road so it's easy to get into the city centre. Or use the train, and that's a few mins walk from Volsgarden station. You pay for breakfast which is self service, which includes fruit, yoghurt, bread, cheese, meats, cereals , scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon. The hotel also gave us travel tickets for our stay, so that saved us some money .

My family and I stayed at the Hotel Lessing for 2 nights and had a great stay.The room was clean and comfortable.The staff were very friendly and helpful.As said by other visitors the free transport pass is fantastic.We liked the area it was in.Plus there's a great little bistro at the end of the street.I would recommend this hotel.

We can only echo the previous comments by other travellers. Location is said by some to be out of the way, however we thought the little tree lined street was a wonderful outlook. The transport tickets provided to guests enables us to take a tram to the old city in ten minutes where there hundreds of alfresco dining places. The location is also only a ten minute walk from the main train station. At first breakfast, we asked for Black tea in lieu of the usual scented variety, and for the rest of our stay, all staff knew of our preference, and this extended to each day when the room was serviced, our favoured tea was included there too. All staff were sincerely helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. We would have given a 5/5 for the hotel, except for the WiFi status our room which was intermittent. I suspect it was due to us being on the top floor. We were however able to get good access using the lounge next to the lobby which solved our problems, but this was a little inconvenient. Would recommend this hotel to any visitor to Dusseldorf, which we found to be a great city I itself.

Excellent hotel
A very nice hotel. Whilst the overall neighbourhood could have been better this quibble was surpassed by the excellent service you get within the hotel. Make good use of the free travel cards you get from the hotel, the city centre is no more than 10 minutes away and the trams are very frequent.

Amazing. this hotel was extremly friendly. Nice, home comfort feel. The front desk was fantastic! Extremly helpful, outstandingly pleasent. Offered so many great suggestions and advice. Helped with any questions. Actually held our bags for a week while we travel to other countries. The room was HUGE, comfy, cozy, classic german feel. The bathroom was wonderful. The bathtub was amazing. Huge, jets, contour for body. Gave a little rubber duck as gift. the tv was nice. Plenty of room for yoga relaxing. Huge door windows for great fresh air and view. Large relaxing chairs with table for writting. Had tea kettle in room to make tea or coffee. The front desk had a gift section, bought some gifts. Beautiful items for great prices. We were able to walk to christmas fairs. Will plan on staying here again. Location close to walking for shopping. Taxis to and from train station easy, and airport.

Our 1 night stay turned out really well despite receiving a smoking room when we wanted non-smoking. The management compensated us and we really appreciated him going the extra mile. The breakfast was outstanding- it's well worth paying for because there are limited options in the neighborhood. We would definitely stay there again.

Fantastic Service
We stayed here at weekend, and was very surprised at how clean the hotel was. The TWIN room was big - The facilities were god value for the money the charge. The breakfast buffet was excellent and worth the money. The staff were very nice and courteous, always smiling and helpful :)
