"Joan and his staff for very welcoming and ensured we had an excellent visit. The rural setting of the hotel has the beach, Roman archaeological sites and other places to visit within 30 minutes of the hotel. The food was awesome. Joan and team prepare and serve extravagant meals bursting with flavor. You can't possibly go hungry."

"Warm and welcoming staff. Very attentive to requests. The breakfast was excellent especially loved the fresh fruit, juices, variety of pastries, bread, omelets, vegan options as well as cheeses and meats/ salmon. The ocean view is spectacular. My kids enjoyed tennis, the beach, golf and the other activities at Kids club. It was close to Lagos and concierge arranged our trip to Benagil. The villa we lived in was very comfortable. "The pool was closed and has been for some time as they are rebuilding it. This was not advertised when booking nor was it communicated to us afterwards. Bike hire and meals also need to be arranged the day before , again this wasn't communicated to us when booking or when speaking to the reception on the phone prior to arriving. It's a lovely village but I think it's not ok to advertise facilities that aren't available as this was a big reason why we chose it. I would definitely go again though...

In this case, the Monte do Zambujeiro offers little to lift his mood. "From the moment you drive up the long driveway to Enigma, your first thoughts are that it’s a stunning hotel, an architect’s delight, with amazing views over the countryside. However there were some flaws of the hotel we noticed soon after entering the lobby. The hotel has so much potential to be more and do better than it was.
