This is a flop house, not a hotel. When I was able to check into my room (there was only one staff person and the sign said she was out on a property walk, which lasted 20 minutes), I was surprised by the rental agreement that had to be signed. There were several signs that immediately made me nervous about staying here. Some signs stated that visitors had to be fully clothed before leaving a room. Another sign stated that trash left outside of a room would result in a $50 charge. Etc. However, despite my uneasiness, I decided to try to shake off my misgivings and go ahead and stay.
My room was on the back side of the hotel. I was glared at by at least 3 sets of men who appeared very annoyed by my presence. There was a woman who may have been homeless sitting in front of a bike in one parking spot. There were several other parking spots that were taken up by men sitting on the curb drinking. There was drug paraphernalia on the ground. There were multiple cars with their hoods up, apparently in the process of being worked on. I was extremely concerned about my safety and the safety of my vehicle.
I went into the room. The state of the room was the tipping point for me. The bed was unmade. There was trash throughout the room. There were towels and such on the floor. Even though the reservation was for a non-smoking room, the room smelled like smoke and mildew. In short, it was utterly unacceptable. I stayed long enough to make a reservation elsewhere.
