Lovely big resort like complex

Posted 30-Jan-2015
Really nice staff and 24hr check in which was handy for us. Everything you could need was inside the complex so great if you just want to laze about for a day. Thanks.

Ok in its day

Posted 28-Jan-2015
Pros: The room was nice and clean and roomy.
Cons: It's definitely in need of some TLC & a personality revamp of the staff. Being a resort, I thought the staff would be much more attentive & friendly
Location: The location was tropical on arrival, but that's where it ended. There was no atmosphere and nothing to do near by.
The Opal Cove Resort was probably a nice place to stay when it was first opened. When we arrived I was greeted by a nice fellow at the reception desk, that was about the nicest person we encountered. Staff were unfriendly, rarely made eye contact so we weren't compelled to spend any time in the actual resort. The facilities were ok, the pool was cloudy and full of mucus from the multitude of kids in the pool. It had a tide mark (scum) around the edge and did not entice me to enter at all. The Hotel itself was ok, but in need of some TLC. Our room was pleasant, and tidy, and was quite large, which was nice. The Golf Course, was a pretend course, no holes to speak of, just flags, and it was in need of some TLC. We stayed 4 nights, on a special rate which was good, but there was not a great deal to do at the Hotel.

Nice place starting to show signs of age

I thought the place was a great family resort which was well priced with good facilities starting to show it's age but still comfortable. Nice staff and will be back

One to be missed

Posted 21-Jan-2015
Pros: Proximity to beach
Cons: Total refurbish, new management and staff.
Location: Every single restaurant & pub were shut at 930pm on a Monday night. Nothing to eat in town.
The entrance lined with trees is impressive. Everything else is awful. Totally shut at 930pm on a Monday night. No food, unfriendly staff, no bar, no room service. The room smelled of nappies and had not been cleaned properly. The air conditioner kept switching off every 30 minutes.

Close to the beach

Posted 17-Jan-2015
Pros: The pool area was good. The grounds are really big and well maintained.
Cons: Needs major upgrading, beds really uncomfortable.
Location: Close to the beach.
Needs upgrading. Really uncomfortable beds. Staff do their job, but are not well informed of area and what to do. Breakfast is terrible and really expensive. The only reason i said I would recommend this hotel is because there are only two resorts in coffs harbour and they are about the same.

Affordable resort for a one night rest stop

Posted 14-Jan-2015
Pros: Plenty of parking and spacious comfortable rooms.
Cons: Nothing I noticed during my stay
Location: It's close to the Big Banana if you're into big fruit.
Arrived after 6 hours of driving and listening to the same movie being played 4 times, so a quick and easy check in was much appreciated. The room was simple and spacious for the four of us. The resort looks and feels family friendly with lots to do. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We ordered room service which arrived before the estimated waiting time and was delicious. I'd go back for longer next time I travel north again.

Kids loved the pool! But not a hotel for smokers!

Posted 13-Jan-2015
Expedia got description wrong. The hotel was a room with a sofa bed. It was listed as a 1 bedroom. Got there and no option to upgrade to a 2 bedroom cause they don't have any. So bunking with the kids and no privacy was the only choice. Staff were beyond this world nice. This is more than likely what made our stay great. Really went above and beyond to fix issues immediately or offer solutions. Food was really good but location of hotel was a bit far from Coffs main beach. You will need a car. Beware if your a smoker this is a non smoking hotel. Not even on the balcony. I think ther was 2 designated spots for smokers that were a walk to get to. That was disappointing.
