Our on-site Tudors Restaurant offers a cozy place to start your day or unwind at the end of the day. The restaurant and bar areas have a great ambience complete with a welcoming open fire place, friendly faces and a hearty, innovative menu to suit a range of tastes. Tudors Restaurant offers a la carte and buffet breakfast from 6.30am and a la carte evening dining from 6.00pm, while the Earl of Essex Bar provides the perfect spot to relax and unwind at the end of the day from 4.30pm onwards. Look out for our local specialities including Canterbury lamb rack, Rangitikei corn-fed chicken and North Canterbury venison as well as produce like our West Melton walnuts. We also have an extensive wine list featuring Canterbury and other New Zealand wines and beers.

“Best in everything ... and they're always happy to help.”
Wonderful Hotel. My wife like the Tudor motif. They did everything they could to make us happy, even with our special requests. Food was great and in large quantities. In room meal was worth the price. Great to have the bus stop right in front. Very easy walk to rest of city. Sold us a power adapter which we desperately needed for an affordable price.
“Quaint Christchurch”
Quite possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed in. . Lovely settings with a great Tudor theme, the living area was spacious and well equipped. 2 spotless rooms with their own television. Bathroom clean with plenty of clean towels etc. Staff were friendly and rooms were cleaned at 10am sharp every day.
“Good for a night”
A very large and comfortable room but in need of a make over. Hotel was clean and the bed was very comfortable but it could do with an up grade and refurbishment. Helpful staff but a little far out of town.
“pleasant”
APart from the Hot water (my husband was the last to have a shower and during his turn it ran out of hot water), the rooms were very spacious and clean. Great for families with kids
“Well presented hotel”
A well presented hotel in a nice area of Christchurch. The staff were helpful and the rooms clean. The fittings and furniture seemed a little dated but functional.
“Close to everything and immaculately clean”
The Heartland hotel is a short walk to the CBD (and red zone) but is close to some of the other cafe/shopping areas nearby (Merrivale village, etc). The rooms are spacious and bright. Our room was immaculately clean. The hotel bar had exceptionally attentive staff and food was generally quite good. They also have a more fine dining option at a French restaurant that we did not visit. Overall, a good place to spend a couple nights in Christchurch.
“Only if it was the cheapest.”
The hotel was in a good location the only problem was the internet. Also, with tours it would let you off at the hotel or pick you up there. Other than that, the hotel was ok.
