Excellent hotel, highly recommended

Posted 21-Jul-2015
Pros: Clean, neat rooms
Location: The hotel is on Lake Superior and near the Apostle Islands and Bayfield. Good touring and fishing. Be sure to sea the ice caves.
We stayed 2 days at the Ashland Americinn and had a great stay. The rooms were very nice and clean. Beds were just right. Pool and play area for children. Hotel staff were very knowledgeable and helpful regarding Ashland the the surrounding area.

Front desk lied when asked if there were rooms available facing the lake, was given rooms facing the lake when I complained about not having rooms next to each other. Breakfast was a long walk for a poor meal. Room smelled. Grounds not taken care of.

Nice Hotel with great view

Posted 23-Mar-2015
Pros: Very attentive staff, very clean.
Location: The hotel is located on the main highway through town, and many restaurants, parks, etc. are close by. It is located on the shores of Lake Superior.
Our overall stay was very nice. The room, staff and general hotel conditions were great. Breakfast was standard fare, nothing special. The only drawback, and this was very minor, was that the snack bar at the indoor water park/pool was not staffed during some of the published hours that it was supposed to be open. We found ourselves going to the pool area with the expectation we could get something to eat or drink, and were disappointed to find the snack bar was closed. Had we known the snack bar was closed, we would have brought some refreshments with us.

Hotel needs deep cleaning and remodel

Posted 13-Oct-2014
Pool and hot tub were very dirty. Two room suite had an awkward setup as the bathroom sink was in the living/sleeper couch room. Not nice for the sleepers. Lugh was on the outside of the bathroom and there was no fan. Linens were old and thin.

High priced for what you get.

Posted 30-Sep-2014
Pros: Room was comfortable, they had a pool that okay and cheap alcohol onsite if that is important to you.
Cons: The hotel is in great need of updating and they could renovate the backyard overlooking this beautiful lake.
Location: This is not far from a couple of state parks which provided some nice hiking. It's also not far from Bayfield and all of its charms.
This hotel is high priced, I suppose because it overlooks Lake Superior. It could use a lot of updating. It has some nice features like many family games in the back yard, i.e. bean back toss and mega bean bag toss; ladder ball and mega ladder ball; a giant checker game and things like that. The pool is okay. Nothing special, but okay. They offer some alcohol onsite. It's pretty reasonable, but again, consider that it is a hotel in much need of updating. They could have done more with the shore to make it more inviting. Update the hotel and spiff up the shoreline and you would have a really inviting hotel. Very nice location so you feel somewhat surprised at paying that much for a very average hotel at best. The town is nothing special. Not much to see, but they do have some very nice building murals that I have never seen in any other town.

Beautiful view

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: The staff was friendly, the hotel was clean and the back patio area is great!
Cons: Breakfast. I wasn't expecting much from a hotel breakfast, but the food was terrible and the coffee was disgusting.
Location: There is a great trail along the shoreline in Ashland. The focus of our trip was a kayak tour in Bayfield.
My husband and I stayed in a whirlpool suite for two nights and took advantage of everything the hotel offered. In the back of the hotel, there is a small beach, a campfire area, a grassy "big" game area and tables and chairs. The view of Lake Superior is spectacular! The pool area includes 2 water-slides, a hot tub and a sauna. Our room was very comfortable and we really had a nice stay.
