“Nice hotel. Good service. Poor food.”

The hotel was great and the staff were friendly. The restaurent was poor, however. I know this is subjective and we may have had a bad day. I ordered the mixed grill which was advertised as 'mammoth'. It was in fact tiny. This would have been acceptable had it been of very high quality or nicely presented, as you might expect in a top restaurent. However my mouthful of steak was overcooked (beyond well done) to the point of being inedible and the gammon was 60% fat. The breakfast was also disappointing with tiny portions not being offset with high quality. Overall I got the impression the kitchen were trying to pass off low quality motel food at top restaurent prices with the associated small portions. The leisure facilities were more of a token effort as well, with the changing rooms being small and the gym kit perched on the edge of the pool.
