“Really lovely boutique hotel”
This is a really lovely hotel with great attention to detail for the sort of price you're paying. The free decanter of sherry, the fruit bowl and the DVD and CD players were a particularly nice touch! My only real complaint would be the fact the room (which was East facing) got incredibly hot in the morning. The fan helped, but aircon might be something for the proprietors to consider in the future! Otherwise - great!
“Nice hotel, great location”
A really nice hotel, looks from the outside far more expensive than it really is and is in a fantastic location. In the west end of Bristol, but in it's own tree lined square. Rooms are very clean and the things like the decanter of sherry are a nice touch. Very friendly staff, very clean hotel and food is amazing. My only complaint, and it may just have been my room, is that the walls seemed a bit thin... the last night I could hear the couple next door all night (if you know what I mean..).
“Small hotel with modern conveniences!”
Very much enjoyed Berkeley Square hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and efficient. Loved being able to brew my own coffee with a French press! Rooms small, typical UK small hotel, but they are designed to make the most of the space...I never felt too cramped. Bed very comfy & nice hot, hard shower! And easy to walk to to Bristol shops and city center. A very pleasant experience, would definitely stay again.
“Superb value for money.”
I've stayed in hotels costing twice as much as The Berkeley Square which don't come close to matching the quality experienced. The room was very well equipped: the range of drinks in the hospitality tray, the bowl of fruit, the mini bar and the decanter of sherry (a very nice touch!) Only minor niggles were the lateness in housekeeping coming round on the Sunday (after 3pm) and that the advertised DVD player was incompatible with the television. However, on notifying reception, the DVD issue was solved instantly - very impressive. If I stay in Bristol again I would definitely be looking to get back in to this hotel.
“Ideal for the academic traveller”
I was very comfortable there. The double-bedded rooms are very well designed with a good sized desk and good lighting. Fruit ,sherry and a flatscreen TV add to the feeling of comfort and luxe. I had a top floor room (the hotel has a modern lift) and slept very well. The staff were friendly and helpful and my room and bathroom were kept immaculately clean during my week long stay. I'll definitely return!
“Just right”
Charming hotel.
“Great value for the budget conscious traveler!”
Considering this was the least expensive hotel in the area listed on Expedia, I was pleasantly surprised with the facility. The room was smaller than what I'm used to in the States, but it was plenty large enough for one person. There was a desk that worked out well for my laptop, a 23" lcd tv, shower/tub combo, and even a complimentary fruit bowl. If I had to come up with a complaint, there was no in-room safe for my laptop and documents, and the fridge was just a mini bar which isn't very helpful to a long stay guest like I was. I didn't try the in house restaurant but less than a block away there were plenty of sandwich shops and eateries. Within a ten minute walk there were even a couple of grocery stores. The Bristol City Museum which was free admission was only about a four minute walk. The Cabot Circus/Bristol Mall are a mile from the hotel. Taxi ride with Checker Car was under £30 from Bristol Airport to hotel doorstep. I never felt uncomfortable in the area around the hotel, fairly well kept area. I WOULD recommend this hotel, especially to the budget conscious.
“A great find”
This hotel is not part of a big chain and all the better for it. It is situated in a beautiful square of very grand buildings, many of which belong to the university which is a stones throw away. Jamies restaurant is the opposite side of the square and there are many other restaurants and bars nearby. The room was a single (as advertised) and adequate for one person with fresh coffee, tea a fruit bowl and sherry all in the room. Parking could be expensive £7/ night in the garage and meters in the square, I stayed on a Sunday and parked outside the hotel all night for free. The staff were efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. I will be back.
“Convenient friendly hotel”
Convenient for the city centre, harbourside and Clifton. The staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is excellent, but also close to a range of eating places.
“"Home away from home"”
This hotel is a wonderful place to stay. Reception and restaurant staff are exceedingly friendly and helpful, the whole hotel is friendly, well maintained and - including location - very pretty. Walking distance to Clifton Village with its shops and restaurants; a short taxi ride to Temple Meads Station. Breakfast is great! Only one downside: the mattress in my room had seen better days, and wasn't all that comfortable to lie on. However, when I mentioned this in the morning, reception told me that replacements are on their way...
