Le Grand Courlan Spa Resort offers 79 guestrooms. Balconies open to ocean or garden views. Beds feature triple sheeting, down comforters, and premium bedding. “Lovely Hotel”
Good: Very nice hotel, good location, nice facilities, nice decoration. Bad: limited food variety. I recommend this hotel to everyone!

I paid extra for my room to have Ocean view. I do not think you could call that ocean view what I had. But everything else was fine.

“Standards Slipping”
We first went to Le Grand Courlan three years ago and could not wait to go back. Unfortunately the standards have slipped and we left a little disappointed in the experience. It is still a nice hotel in a beautiful location and the Tobagoan people are wonderful but there were several little niggles which we did not like. Some of the bar staff were decidedly unfriendly and did not even smile, messages did not get through and our room was not always serviced properly. The room safes were very old and ours jammed and needed the door removing. The umbrellas at the pool were old and faded. The spa lacks atmosphere and they do not even play any music. Some of the free treatments are not particularly good, one involved sitting in a jet bath for 20 minutes and then been told, quite brusquely, to go and shower off. If you do not want the spa treatments you can exchange then for some free diving but you have to notify the hotel within 24 hours of arriving. Unfortunately no one told us of this option until the end of the holiday and when I asked the manager what she could do for us she just quoted -policy-. On the plus side, the food is good but some evenings are buffet service, even in the -posh- restaurant. The beach is really nice and you can have your lunch and drinks at the beach bar. The hotel is not large and is adult only so the pool and beach were never crowded. The dive shop is friendly.
“Not Nice”
The airconditioner was barely cooling the room, on inspection I found that the filter had not been cleaned in years. The sheets felt like sandpaper and a pad under the sheets moved around and bunched up when you turned. The place is deteriorating rapidly, the bar was not operating at all. The food was barely passable. In short we did not have an enjoyable stay at this hotel.

Poor customer service!!! Nasty rooms!!! general manager (mr dirks) very rude and disrespectful!!! No backup generator No security!!!! Employees rude!!!
“Worst Hotel Worst Customer Service Horrible Ammenities”
There were maybe 10 guests at the hotel. I was shocked to see how outdated the pool and property ammenities were based on the 3.5 star rating and what the hotel had to offer. There was no live music on the weekend. I ordered a bloody mary and it tasted like watered down tobasco with no celery stick or olives and not even a lime garnish. We asked for towels and it took 2 hours before they arrived. The shower in the hotel room was very dirty as well. They tried to charge us for arriving 2 hours early but my husband told the front desk manager I was pregnant so they waived the fee. The pool bar was not managaged at all and what I thought would be a pleasant tropical experience with some live steel band enteratainment turned out to be second rate and I will never go back that hotel nor recommend to anyone.
