Check in was easy and reception desk staff were very helpful and spoke English. The room itself was okay, the TV was very small and far away from the bed, the toilet was dirty and there was no toiletries provided except hand soap. The bed was not a double as advertised, instead it was two single beds pushed together. We were on the ground floor and got woken up by other guests every night- however I recognise this is not the fault of the hotel. Otherwise, the breakfast was great- a very traditional European style with lots of choices and the coffee was delicious. We were provided with clean towels every day, the bedsheets were lovely and clean and best of all, beer and other cold drinks for sale at the reception desk around the clock, very cheap. The location of the hotel was great, within walking distance to all of the main city attractions, but also a 7-8 minute walk to Spittlmarkt underground station. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to others, for the location alone.

Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Could not fault the breakfast buffet. Only downside was that the pilows were poor and the duvet was stained in several places

The location was great easy walk down the street to get to train. I read alot of reviews and i figured well i will give it a chance. the front staff super nice and friendly. I had issue with TV and someone actually came to help me out. That being said not until i walked to front desk since they had NO phones in the room, i have never in 50yrs of traveling never seen a room with no phone what about for safety reasons at least. The room was big but empty weird tall ceilings with tiny picture and small tv on the wall with 4 channels weird. Bathroom was clean and blowdryer included so i was happy. It just felt like the whole place needed a much needed freshen up maybe like the building had been there since the fall of the wall and never updated. The breakfast was ok a few choices, but the kitchen staff super nice with a smile each morning happy to serve. The room for breakfast needed an update seemed so depressing maybe just brighten it up seemed so dark and old i wanted to paint it and freshen it up to start each day

Nice hotel
This is a really nice hotel, although it is unfortunate that the lift doesn't go all the way to the top floor, where many of the rooms are located. One has to take the elevator to the fourth floor, and then walk up one floor. The elevator is fine, but the ground floor waiting area for the lift is really old and needing fixing up. The breakfast buffet is really nice. I think the outside of the hotel should be fixed up a bit as well, to look more welcoming to tourists. I stayed there for seven nights.

Its a block away from the nearest underground so if your going for the first time with no wifi plan your walking route before. Its very old so the elevator is small and doesn’t go all the way to the top. Also its just a regular key lock and no safes so don’t leave anything valuable in the rooms. However our room was spacious and breakfast was nice.

Good location near check point Charlie. Very basic room with very little room for luggage. The curtain was broken and I had to jury rig a solution. The lobby is on the ground floor, but the hotel rooms are on floors 4&5 of an older building. The lower floors were quite dirty, but the hotel floors were clean, as was the room. There was a lift to the 4th floor, but we had to climb a flight of steps to get to our room on the 5th. The breakfast was not bad. All in all, not a great hotel, but pretty good value.

We enjoyed the room and bathroom for it's cleanliness, and the breakfast was delicious. It was also in a very good location. However it was very loud and night (the air conditioner keep making banging sounds?) which made it difficult to sleep.

We didn't like anything in this hotel. It is very very noisy. Wifi is terrible. Not a single English tv channel, only German.There were many flies during breakfast. We do not recommend this hotel.

The staff was great. Nadia helped me with materials I needed from the first aid kit. Christine changed our room to the first floor after I injured my knee. Great staff! The breakfast buffet was also good with lots of choicrs. The only addition would be fans as it was very hot in the rooms during the heatwave.

Easy to find once you leave underground station and follow sign to Checkpoint Charlie. When you see Haus am Checkpoint Charlie, turn right and then take the third junction on your left, and the hotel is on the right hand side

This hotel is right near where Germany was divided, not too far away from Checkpoint Charlie, in Kreuzberg. Despite the mixed reviews I had read, I REALLY loved staying here! The building is a DDR kind of concrete structure with a scary-looking elevater that is not encased, and you can see it hanging by cables. The long hallways are kind of dark and they are like mazes, but once in my room, it had a nice balcony where I could step out for fresh air, and the room was a cozy attic that was perfectly clean and adequate. I just stayed one night here to fly out of Berlin but I didn’t want to leave!! The people at the reception all spoke in Russian ( and German and English ), and they were so nice and helpful. The breakfast was wonderful and plenty to fuel my long day of sightseeing. The dining room was a big no-nonsense DDR-like room. You know, these concrete buildings in communist countries are austere-looking but it is really cozy inside. I can’t wait to come back to Berlin to stay here again!!

Don’t take a roll from breakfast room
Don’t take a roll from the breakfast area!! Even though the rooms have a fridge stove microwaves etc dont you dare take a roll. The little old ladies in the kitchen WILL CHASE YOU DOWN TO THE ENTRANCE and yell at you like they did to my family.

The photos were very misleading, and what looked like a charming boutique hotel, was actually a run down and outdated hotel. The entire place smelled like cigarette smoke and there were stains on our pillows and bedsheets. The beds were also very uncomfortable. The lighting in the hallways was dim and like something out of a horror film. For the price we could have stayed somewhere much nicer. The only upside was the location.

Definitely no frills budget accomodation. The room is pretty threadbare with old bed linens and furniture. However the room was clean and bathroom appears to have been recently renovated. Decent breakfast buffet. Fine for sleeping but you wouldn't want to hang out in this basic accomodation.

The hotel has a good position, close to the city center and sights. It is located in a calm street. The room was in the ground floor and not too good positioned, that is why probably the WIFI which was supposed to be included in the price barely worked and the hotel's assistance was not able to help. For a stay as such, when you are mostly spending the nights in the hotel and the rest wandering outside the city, it is just fine.

I do not have a bad thing to say about my stay... The staff were super friendly and very helpful. The room itself was clean, tidy and quite frankly, modernly refreshing to stay in. Sometimes it's the small things which count; like the Starbucks coffee pods which they give for you to use. Great customer service offering a taxi from the airport to the hotel. I did not experience any issues during my visit. I would highly recommend this location if you are looking for a good location, modern style and not too "hole in your wallet" price!

Hotel was very nice and clean and quiet! WiFi wasn’t very good and the televisions did not work. Some of the beds were rather uncomfortable but overall the stay was worth it!

The location was great. The staff at the hotel were really helpful and friendly in pointing out things to do and places to see. The room was great (bunk bed room) it was like a whole little apartment to ourselves. Definitely recommend of group of 2+

The location was perfect for touristy activities, but that’s all this hotel has going for it. Our room was way smaller than the pictures and had zero air circulation. The bathroom was dirty and the beds were very cheap and uncomfortable. I would not stay here again.
