“Expensive but well worth it! Great Hotel!!!”
The hotel is very expensive especially when you can stay in another 4/5* hotel for half the price and even stay in some really nice places for just a few pounds. However, this my first holiday in over 2 years and we wanted to splash out a bit. I am really fussy about things being clean, this hotel was really clean! I was very impressed as I couldn't even find any dust anywhere in our room. If you can afford it I would try and stay for at least two nights. One night isn't rally enough time as there are many restaurant and bars within the hotel. Also, it is the first stop on the water taxi which makes getting around, cheap and easy. You don't have to keep getting ripped of by those taxi drivers or tuk tuk driver who like to double their fair when they collect you. You will need a few smartish clothes for dinner though and I hate the position of the pool. You have to walk through the front lobby - not good! All in all, I love this hotel!!
“Incredible service”
This hotel has incredible service and attention to detail. Great location and access to much of what Bangkok has to offer. This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at.
“Fabulous”
All what we expected and more, the service is second to none, everything is thought out so well. Very slick and professional yet very friendly . Restaurants are excellent and the staff cannot do enough for you. We would definitely recommend this hotel if you stay in Bangkok.
“Pampering at its best”
The Hotel was magnificent. The staff were friendly and polite and could not do enough for you. The Pool, Spa, Standard of Food service and Location could not be bettered. Cannot wait to go back
“great hotel”
smaller than other hotel, good service and a great spa
“Experience”
An old dream come true
“An enchanting experience”
A real luxury and indulgence. The service impeccable and the hospitality extremely warm. A very good cuisine in all the restaurants especially Lord Jim's a seafood restaurant. The hotel is well located especially scenic on the river side. The jazz bar adjacent to the cigar room has the nicest ambiance after 8:00pm. The Oriental hotel Spa is a class by its own where comfort and luxury meet. The only bad part about staying at the Oriental hotel for three nights was that we had to leave, but best of all, the knowledge that such a place exists in such a busy world for us to come back and indulge in its wonderful setting.
“Worth the splurge, and then some”
The service was incredible, the rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable and the grounds were immaculate. The only criticism I can offer is that the restaurants are pricey and the staff will generaly try to keep you in the hotel to eat. That's not to say the hotel food isn't fabulous (try the outdoor buffet at least once), but it's far more pricey than the mom-and-pop restuarnts throughout Bangkok. For example, there is no place to grab a quick cup of coffee in the morning. But if you venture around the corner and down the block (don't be afraid, there are police everywhere) you can find a simple American-style diner with a full breakfast for around $2. Overall, it is easy to see why the Oriental has been rated the best hotel in the world. It's large enough to offer great amenities, but small enough that many staff members will remember your name every morning. Also try the fresh Thai fruit left in your room every day -- not to be missed!
“What makes world class”
Of all the extraordinary features and attention to detail - lobby string quartet to perfect poolside bar service - the single feature that surpassed any place I've stayed in the world was the Oriental's automatic invitation to check in early when we arrived at 7am and the offer of a room to shower in before our midnight flight the next day. That is world class. We will go back.
“An incredible experience”
As an oasis of calm in what is a busy, noisy city The Oriental not only satifsies all my demands but surpassed them with flying colours. The staff were excellent and hotel incredible. We stayed in the Garden Wing which was well worth the extra money. We feared that the hotel may be a bit kitch with gold and brass heavily featuring but its decor was opulet but tasteful. Overall, I cannot fault the hotel in anyway. It is just a shame we were only there for 3 nights.
