The hotel itself is a spectacular old building, full of character. It has giant marble staircases, and the rooms were very different. Ours had a staircase up to our king size bed inside the room which I really enjoyed as a feature. The toilet/shower was large, and the facilities were good.
Oosterpark was this hotels crown for me. Whilst not being the reason for booking, we spent many hours in the park, just admiring easygoing nature of the Dutch way of living. Bikers, runners, bbq's, sports, and exercise classes going off all around all day in an extremely well kept park which the people in return take great care of. I was an 8 minute walk to the metro which took us to the centre of the city each day. However, the trains do finish around midnight if you plan to stay out late in the city, so you may need a taxi or prepare for a walk if those are your plans.
We will definitely consider visiting again if travelling to Amsterdam in the future!
