The most helpful staff, kept things quick with both check in& out, amazing english. Hotel is a little dated but where you are so central to different museums, bars, pubs, nightclubs and parks there isn't really a need to be in very much! You'd be hard pushed to find a hotel at better value and location !

We had a terrible experience at hotel amsterdam inn, as we had money stolen from our room, when we requested help from the hotel, they said a police report had to be file in order to help us, so we did and once with they police report, they said nothing could be done and they can show us the cameras footage to see who has entered the room. While having breakfast, the cleaning staff questioned the front desk person. That she heard something had occurred during her shift. To what he responded, dont worry they are lying. Not even asking her anything regarding the stolen money.

Cheap and cheerful. Biggest downside is that you can really hear everything in the hallways and other rooms. Had to get earplugs and woken up. Some mold in the bathroom. Other than that great location, good for dining, shopping, walking, and transport. Also staff were nice too.

The bathroom was tiny and the shower did not drain and the floor flooded each time. The room was poorly decorated with cheap curtains and furnishings. Each night it was freezing in the room. The stairs were narrow and one wobbled under foot.

Well the stay was alright..but it's not easy staying on the 4th floor without any lifts and steep narrow stairs. Room service needs improvement as well.

We suggest that you stay away from the hotel. We were greeted by a silver fish on the bed and small bugs on the wall. We took a movie of such a bug, caught one of the bugs, brought it to the front desk -- and moved out at once. The hotel itself looks run down, the door frame banged up at the lock, the carpet on the stairs damaged -- see pictures. The room is VERY small, with nearly no space between the two beds and no space to put down bags, with a small shower, small bathroom, steep stairs to the room, no elevator, and, of course, no air conditioning. We were very concerned about the condition of the hotel and were surprised that such a property is listed at all on Hotels.com. We also learned that it is a waste of time to ask Hotels.com for help with such an issue.
Nearly no space between the beds; on the wall to right were bugs.

The door frame of the door to our room did not give us confidence.

The stay was good...it was in nice area by Canal ...room was updated... darkening curtains would be great or shades behind the curtains...better quality of the pillows (more fluffy and slightly bigger) would be greatout...Out of the room hotel looked very run down and definitely need some updating - front door handle came off and stay in my husband's hand... our heads were by the wall, so we got waking up with every person going in and out of the hotel door being slammed and squeaky...

Cheapest hotel available for a stop over night. Situated 10 mins from the Heineken Experience. The hotel exterior was disgusting with rubbish all over the outside. The reception area is very basic but the receptionist was nice and polite. Room was very very basic with a wet room shower and a separate toilet. The room could do with a lick of paint and some nicer furniture it definitely resembled a prison cell. However, it was really clean and the beds were comfy. Ideal if you’re only stopping over one night. Any more and you’d have to move hotels.

When we paid extra for ‘canal view’ we were looking out over an industrial waste tip and the back end of a tiny canal in the corner. Shocked that the hotel can actually charge extra for a worse view!!

At £35 a night for a triple room, you get what you pay for. Room was tired but clean ish, shower was fine, beds comfortable. Stairs are very steep and narrow so not advised if you have problems climbing stairs. You get what you pay for but it done the job.

Location was excellent and staff were really helpful gave us a map and marked out all locations for us. Steps up to the room quite steep. Room was a little cold. Plenary for space in the bedroom nice view of the canal. Our room was right by the stairs so was very noisy at night. Bathroom had a strange smell but we kept the door closed. Would definitely stay again tho couldn’t fault it all in all.

You found this as you were searching for a cheap hotel that wasn’t a hostel. You found it. It’s fine, but don’t expect the ritz! Windows are thin, so you hear all the night life.

Our room was in the 4th floor with ever narrow staircase which was a bit difficult to climb. One of the steps was loose which I report to management when checking out.Website stated breakfast available which was false advertisement. Room was clean Toilet paper remind afte flushing. Great location.

A great location is the only thing really going for this place. THe room did not even have a cup for water. They do not clean during your stay and if you arrive past 6, you have to go across the street to check in. Not worth the price

When we arrived to the hotel, they stated our reservation had been cancelled (which I was never notified of). They were able to find us a room, but I was charged for 3 nights when I only stayed 2 and they weren't able to refund anything. They gave us a room on the 4th floor and there wasn't an elevator in the building. Once we were in the room, the bathroom door had a punch/hit in the middle of it. In the bathroom there was a huge window and no curtains or blinds which was very uncomfortable we ended up putting up a towel over the window. The shower had no curtain or door, which made a huge mess when we showered. And last but not least to check out we had to walk across the street to different location to turn in the keys. I ended up paying $400.00 for 2 nights. Definitely not worth it.

Right on the canal, very central.
Wasn't expecting too much from 2* hotel so shouldn't have been disappointed. Arrival to given address, building looked a little dirty and seedy. Printed note in door to say Reception is across the road at Hotel Marnix! Checked in, staff pleasant enough. Back across the road to actual hotel. Decor had an air of student house about it. Random, unrelated posters on yellowy-beige walls. Bedroom clean, beds comfortable. Sheets slipped around as if on ice when beds were sat on and given there was no other place to sit we were constantly rearranging bed linen. I'm guessing that even in a 2* hotel the bathroom door handle should stay attached to the door. Thankfully it happened to the adult first, can only imagine how a child would have reacted to being 'locked' in the bathroom. Would have reported it to reception each time it happened but as they were down three flights of stairs and across a main road we just jammed it back on & hoped for the best. Given proximity Amstelland Police Station we felt safe however proximity to law enforcement didn't seem to faze whoever threw the drum & bass party downstairs throughout the early hours of our second night. After a few hours of trying to get back to sleep I gave up and logged on to read the day's news. It seems that the hotel Wi-Fi is inactive overnight. I would have diacussed it w reception but they were down three flights of stairs and across a main road in a different building & it was the middle of the night.

If not for the location...
Like many places in Amsterdam, there's no air conditioning and the stairs are monstrously steep. OK, the other reviews said that, as well as the lack of any sort of hooks to hang something on and the spotty wi-fi, which was true - I had to go to the office at the main hotel across the street to get reliable service of any sort. The mattress had a major crater in it and I wound up sleeping on the box spring, which was manageable. There was a chair, but it was stuck between the bed and the desk so I couldn't use it. In general, the room was pretty small and cramped. The hotel itself is located off the Leidseplein, which is a big party zone. The trade-off is that you get a great central location but it's very loud at night.

worst hotel ever
I wish I would have checked in early enough to go somewhere else. I knew it wasnt a fancy hotel, and while it was a little overpriced, i thought it would be ok. There were punch holes in the bathroom door. The wifi wasn't working more than it was, and the walls were paper thin. people were loud and came in and out all night. The bathroom was terrible. I didnt even take a shower. I hate to write a bad review, but I wouldn't want anyone else making the same mistake I made. Especially for the price they are charging. Very disappointed.

Can't hang even a shirt in the room
Up two floors of extremely steep stairs, the room was bright enough, but, looking around, I couldn't see where to hang a two suits, or a coat, or a shirt, or anything. No closet, no closet bar projecting into the room, no hooks on the walls, no hook on the door, no place to hang even a shirt. Completely unacceptable! Bathroom is dank, the shower a lower spot in the bathroom floor. I had paid for five nights at the desk, but couldn't stay in this room, and didn't, for more than enough time to pick up my suitcase and briefcase to return to the desk. Unwilling to refund any of my money, I am hoping that Hotels.com can gain cooperation from the hotel to refund my money. Do NOT stay at this hotel!

Expensive hotel
One wonders why Amsterdam is so expensive. Even by london standards the amount being charged for this room was too high. Plus the room was kind of in a state of disrepair didn't help.
