“Grand Amrath Hotel is Grand”
This hotel is absolutely beautiful. There are so many features; the marble throughout, carvings, statues, the metal work, the location and the fixtures. I loved it. I saw something new every day that awed me. I walked around it outside and it's even more decorative than indoors. The comfort of the room was top notch. I had an inclusive mini-bar that I did use daily and it was replenished daily. The bed was very nice, as was the comforter and pillows. The bathroom had both a shower and a tub. Very contemporary. The hotel was only minutes away from Centraal Station, and the very heart of Amsterdam and steps away from shopping. It's has a canal running along side and a beautiful view of the neighborhood. If I ever have an option for Amrath properties again, I will take it. the room service was quick and the food was excellent. I had 4 meals during my stay and each was perfectly cooked and delicious. The employees were all very cordial and gracious and helpful. My check in and check out were simple procedures.
“Very Bad Experience”
Bad experience all through, from the checking in to checking out compared to its price. Never recommend to others.
“Free Minibar!”
First off, this hotel features a free, stocked minibar that is restocked daily!! We had three guys staying in the room, and we thought that we could easily finish everything in the bar each night - not the case, there was too much! That was definitely a added plus. Service at the reception was great, very polite and courteous. Concierge was ok, not that helpful or nice, but acceptable. This hotel is a decent location; keep in mind it was a bit hard to find from the Central Train Station at first, but once you figure it out the first time it's not hard at all. I would say that the hotel location is a bit farther from the city square than other hotels, but given that Amsterdam is not a very big city it's really not that big of a deal. Would recommend this hotel/stay here again.
“great hotel/service”
The hotel was old but very well maintained. Room was spacey and staff was very helpful.
“New Classic”
Beautiful hotel located close to Amsterdam Central train station. Architecture is magnificent. The details in the wood work, marble, and glass is amazing opulence. The staff was helpful and provided good recommendations for food and drink. Amrath is located near many of the sites in this beautiful city.
“Amrath is 5 star!”
Beautiful building built in 1902 as a shipping center, it was converted to a hotel and is AMAZING! The ceilings are 15+ feet high, with window almost as tall. The service is pristine, there is always someone around to tend to your every need. Our stay at the Amrath was very comfortable and luxurious. Great location in Amsterdam, close to a square where you can find all amenities, and a 5 min walk to the Red Light District for all the action. You can rent bikes or scooters directly from the hotel. This place has it all. I'd love to stay here again.
“One of the best hotels in Amsterdam!”
We arrived early and got a free upgrade to a junior suite with immediate check in. There was a completely free mini bar, refilled every day, free access to a heated in door swimming pool, saunas and a hot tub. The room was very clean, and the beds very comfortable. The location was great, a walking distance to and from the central station, and about the same distance to the city center. We never needed any public transportation. The staff was friendly and professional, and helped us with tips and recommendations. Overall, I would definitely like to go back and I recommend G.H. Amarth to anyone staying in beautiful Amsterdam!
“My Terrible Experience at the Grand Hotel Amrath Amsterdaml”
Here is a sampling: 1. No hand soap. When I called I was told that there has been a problem with their deliveries and that they would receive soap the next day. We never got any soap during our 5 day stay. 2. Not one electric outlet in the bathroom. My wife had to blow dry her hair in the bedroom. 3. Room service extremely slow and cleanup after does not exist. 4. The comforter was very thick and though we had the window open, I got up repeatedly sweating. No sheet provided under comforter so either had to have nothing on and be cold or go under comforter and be very hot and uncomfortable. 5. Half the lights in the room not working. 6. Hotel has no lobby whatsoever 7. When checking out I asked to pay the incidentals with the credit card on file. To my surprise the amount on the credit card slip was in dollars. I have always paid in Euros and the CC company simply does the conversion on my next bill. I asked the receptionist as to why this is not in Euros and his response was that since the credit card company knew this was a US based card, it automatically converted to dollars. After signing the slip I read the fine print and it stated that I had a choice of paying in dollars or Euros and that some financial company was doing the conversion. I realized that I was paying approximately $60 more that what I would pay if paid in Euros. I went back and asked the clerk to cancel this transaction and do it in euros which he did.
“Would stay here every time if we could!”
The hotel is beautiful, the staff is courteous and prompt, it's just a great experience. If you go make sure to take advantage of the free mini bar. The sodas in amsterdam are expensive and they restock it once a day for free. This hotel is by far the nicest i've stayed at in europe, and it is well worth the extra money...
“Amrath”
Hotel was clean and comfortable. Great location. "Free" minibar made a difference. Room service and restaurant were a bit over priced.
