“Great Location”

This hotel has a great location, its at literally across the street from Central station, and on the top of the Red Light District. With great access to bars, resturants and all the shops, and anything else you might want indulge in.

Room was a bit cramped for 3, but hotel was great. Definitely recommend it.

Very good location. Disappointed no tea/coffee facilities. Broadband was not working for entire three days, but tidy and quiet although right in the red light district so again great location close to main train station.

“A good central hotel”

Hotel centrally situated but on a quiet canal side. Very near the station and easy to get to from the airport. The Irish pub next door, where we had an excellent buffet breakfast each morning, was very friendly and we had a fun evening at their quiz night. Would go back to this hotel if we came to Amsterdam again.

Great location, 2 min walking distance from Amsterdam Centraal train station (that brings you to and from the airport), at the bottom of the Red Light district, 1 min walking distance from oldest pubs in Amsterdam along Zeedijk street. 5 min walking distance from Damrak street where boat/bus tours leave. Clean, no nonsense hotel, free full breakfast included with room fee, internet access ($ by the min) available in lobby. Rooms are small, but to be expected. Noisy Saturday nights 'till 3am because of nearby pubs with live music, but that's why you're in AmDam anyway!

“Small but great location”

The room was quite small, even by European standards, but it still did the trick. In fact, I was very impressed by the bathroom (in the room) - nice ceramic tile, glass shower enclosure - very modern. What this hotel has that I loved was the location. It is seconds from the Red Light District (literally) and if you're there to explore the city and its nightlife, this is a great starting place. Also, the breakfast at the pub next door (included) was very nice. The pub gets a bit loud at night, but if you close your window (room has a/c) the noise almost disappears. I probably won't go back but only because I don't mind spending a few more bucks for a more standard sized room, but I would recommend it to the budget traveler who wants close proximity to the action.

“A good stay..”

The Hotel France was in a good central location and very reasonably priced. This may have been due to the fact that we appeared to be in the Gay Mecca during Gay pride week(not that I have a problem with this but should be noted) The three bed room that I shared had two decent beds but one fold down that was too uncomfortable to sleep in. luckily we'd booked two rooms!
