I've chosen this hotel my last three visits to Amsterdam. I keep returning, and paying a little more each time, because I've had good experiences. This time was an exception though. Things didn't go well from the moment we arrived. The check-in process took more than 30 minutes. It appeared that multiple guests trying to check-out had issues with their bills and the front desk staff was overwhelmed. The room we were given was not the room size I understood I had reserved. With the chaos at the front desk, asking a question meant standing in line for 30+ minutes. Evidently, there were no other rooms available. We were going to be there for three nights, so we chose to make the best of it. A number of the staff were less than polite to guest throughout our stay. This was a very unusual experience for me at this hotel. I love the building, most of the rooms, the lobby, the bar/dinning area, the location, and usually the staff, but if this had been the first time I visited this hotel, I would probably look elsewhere next time. I truly didn't feel I received good value this visit.
