This is the third time I have been to the Dammam area. The last two times, I stayed at a hotel that was quite isolated - it was near the beach but that was about it. Nothing else to do or see.
The name of this hotel as shown on the site is mis-leading. The taxi driver and the airport shuttle driver both went to the Al-Khobar Tulip, which is about 10 minutes away in good traffic. This hotel is actually the Tulip Halal. Be aware so you don't end up driving around the city looking for the Al-Khobar Tulip Inn.
The hotel from the outside looks okay. However, the inside leaves some to desire. The second floor carpet in the hall has watermark all over the place like a major flood took place on the entire floor.
The first room I went to 216 had a broken lock. The staff couldn't get it open until they used the regular key instead of the key card. I was assigned a second room, which worked okay.
I was going to use the exercise room, which they then said was under maintenance. That was kind of disappointing because it was not clearly stated on the site when I made the reservation.
On the other hand, the hotel is within a 10 minute walk to the Venice Mall. That is nice to be able to walk around and see something in an air conditioned space.
