(1,003 reviews) Significant changes noticed since MGM took over the Borgata. I remember coming to the Borgata before MGM and it felt more of a personal luxurious experience compared to the current- get in and out treatment from the staff. When checking in, we were told that all the king rooms were booked and then asked if it would be ok to stay in 2 queens size beds instead. I usually would not have an issue and accept. But when I refused and reminded the person checking us in that we specifically booked a king and that’s what we paid for, a “phone call” was made and within minutes, our King room was available. No issues at all. My questions and curiously made me question, “why would that even come up?, I reserved a king and was told they were booked”. The HVAC vent in the room and in the closet were dusty, and there was dust on the closet door that prohibited us from using the supplies that were in the closet. There was also a clanking noise that could be heard in the wall throughout our entire stay. This hindered our sleeping greatly. We also noticed a stain on the lower sheet that goes over the boxspring. It was visible when we walked into the room.Our hotel phones in the room did not work properly when we tried to order room service. The customer service was very friendly, and the food in the restaurant downstairs was very good. We had multiple breakfasts and dinners downstairs and they were all wonderful. Overall, we were disappointed with this being a five star hotel, and the cleanliness of our room. We expected more.
