Pros: Empathetic frontline staff who tried their best under pressure, renovated Ipanema room. Cons: 2 hr check-in delay, system outage requiring handwritten credit cards, misleading Expedia pricing, broken ice machines, elevator delays. My stay was a highly frustrating mix of great frontline service and total operational failure. Booking through Expedia was incredibly misleading; the price I was promised online was entirely different from what I was forced to pay upon arrival, resulting in unexpected extra charges at the desk that felt like being double-billed. The check-in process itself was a complete nightmare. The entire system went down, and the lobby turned into a massive bottleneck. The self-service kiosks were useless, and the front desk staff had to manually process arrivals using a pen-and-paper backup system, handwriting credit card information and hard copies just to get people into rooms. Because of this tech failure, I had to wait roughly two hrs just to check in. Once finally past the desk, getting to the room was a chore due to painfully long elevator wait times. I stayed in the renovated Ipanema Tower. While the room was modern, basic maintenance is failing—the ice machine on my level was broken, forcing me to haul a bucket to a completely different floor just to get ice. The absolute saving grace of this hotel is its frontline staff. The employees are incredibly polite, friendly, and did their absolute best to remain patient while dealing with management

Both horseshoe and Expedia charged us. Never got my money book. So I paid double. Yes double. Customer service line just let's you leave a message. Upon arriving horshoe said they had no double beds booked so they make rebuy with the hotel and they will cancel Expedia travel booking. All lies.

Staff was unfriendly rude and couldn’t care less for customer. Further more I was double charged resort fees Highway robbery. I will let the world know to never stay at this hotel

Ellis Island Hotel is a smaller, cozier lodging than MGM Grand, yet at least a step up from staying at Comfort Inn. The rooms are quaint, but do come equipped with all the basics, and are clean, quiet, and comfy. Vending machines and food/restaurant options are great, especially for such a little property. The entire staff is great~ very friendly/ very accommodating. Parking is fine, and the casino attached next door has lots of variety on a limited scale... meaning... they offer everything from sport betting to craps to blackjack to roulette, though they may only have one or two tables of each, total. There does seem to be a better vibe than that which remains in a lot of Vegas nowadays, and a lot of those that dwell here are locals. All n all, a chill environment at a great value. The only set back? They used to have a secluded late~night cement pond and hot tub round back, which now closes early and opens late. But, other than that, a great option within walking distance of the Strip.
