I give this hotel an "okay" rating primarily because the location is absolutely perfect. Being right near Beira Mar makes getting around incredibly convenient. However, after staying here multiple times, there are three significant issues you should be aware of: - Dark, gloomy rooms: I've stayed here at least three times in three different rooms, and every single one lacked sufficient natural sunlight. You have to keep the artificial lights on all day just to see properly. - Credit card currency trap: Pay close attention if paying with a foreign card. I used my EUR card and the machine displayed Reais (BRL), but it processed the payment in EUR at a highly disadvantageous rate. I ended up paying about €70 more than I should have for a one-week stay. - Frustrating check-out process: I needed a formal receipt ("recibo") and asked to get it a few hours before my 3:00 AM check-out. I was told it could only be generated at the exact moment of check-out. When I went down at 3 AM with my Uber waiting, the receptionist emerged half-asleep with his shirt hanging out of his trousers. It took him forever to process a simple receipt, holding up a line of other guests who also needed to check out.
