The room and bed was very comfortable. The tea/coffee making facilities were not good. And the original staff member I spoke to was quite rude and unhelpful.

The town house was lovely, however the staff were dismissive to the point of being rude when we checked in. The guy who took my card and showed us to our townhouse literally couldn’t be bothered to smile or make any effort at all. We paid a lot of money for my partners birthday and he opened the door handed over the key and left. We had no idea how to use anything barely slept because we couldn’t turn the heating off. So disappointed. However when we went for supper in the restaurant we had a lovely young waitress who was engaging, courteous and attentive. When we checked out again the lady on the desk wasn’t interested in our complaint of the heating and barely smiled. Such a shame for such a lovely place to be let down by some of its staff.

Our stay at Lords of the Manor was truly exceptional. The hotel itself is very pretty, and although it rained almost constantly, the grounds were clearly beautiful. The weather did nothing to detract from the warm and gracious welcome we received. Every member of staff was unfailingly polite, attentive, and helpful, and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. From start to finish, everything about our stay was a genuinely lovely experience.

We were staying here because our bathroom is being renovated and will definitely stay again. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with a brilliant shower that I did not have to faff around with adjusting, just turned on and it was the perfect temperature. The underfloor heating makes the room very warm although one can open the windows. In kinder weather, there are chairs outside each of the rooms to sit on and enjoy a drink or smoke, and the pub itself is a friendly and comfortable place just to sit down and have tea/coffee or a drink. It is not 24 hour service but there is a 24 hour M&S Simply food across the road (though be careful crossing if on foot). Breakfast begins at 8 a.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. Sunday. I prefer this smaller place (10 rooms) to a larger hotel, where I feel shut in and have to traverse corridors and stairs to get out. As Coate Water adjacent to the Sun, there is a lot of greenery and fresh air despite the busy road. (I was thrilled to hear a thrush at 6.30 a.m). Altogether it was a very cosy and comfortable experience.
