The room was a little dated but really about what we expected for what we paid and seemed like very good value overall. Albeit small, was nice to have a pool and the facilities in our room allowed us to be self-sufficient as there were stores and car rentals very close by. Great location.

Great location close to the Lido, rooms are very well maintained and spacious. We had a pool and sea view room with a balcony which was great. The breakfast was very varied with an excellent choice and range of food including cereals, fruit, pastries, cold meats, cheese and cooked breakfast options. The reception staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. Bar staff around the pool were friendly and welcoming. The buffet dinner was also excellent with a good variety of choices. The pool area was very well kept, the indoor pool was quieter and the outdoor pool was busier but we were always able to find a sun bed and it never seemed crowded. Overall it was a great location for exploring the island of Madiera. We would recommend it.

We have just had a 3 night stay at the Hotel and it was lovely. When we arrived the reception staff were very friendly and gave us a brief tour, when our room was ready we were again escorted there by a member of reception. The room was a great size with a small patio area overlooking the lush gardens. We had dinner in the restauarant on our first night, which was excellent, service was impeccable. We used the bar a couple of times, loving the idea that we got to choose our "Happy Hour", we also ate in the Bar on 2 occasions and again the food was excellent. Breakfast was very good with a great slection of food.The Hotel is very traditional and has a lot of character, we will hopefully return one day and would recommend to anyone who would like to be within 15 mins of the centre of Funchal but still stay in a "little oasis".

Good basic 4 star hotel, as a base with a pool and breakfast it was fine for us. As long as a little tired decor doesn’t trigger you you’ll be great. Location is fantastic with a small park next door, shopping centre 5mins walk away and dozens of bars and restaurants nearby.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Albatroz! This holiday experience was all that we were looking for - excellent food with exceptional service, a warm welcoming atmosphere from the front desk to the restaurant and housekeeping staff, and unparalleled attentiveness from all staff. This hotel has ‘old-world’ charm and is set in a location with amazing views, ocean pools, and beautiful gardens. This is a hidden gem - your stress level will decrease from the first moment you step onto the hotel grounds. As a bonus, it was close to the airport so we could enjoy the views of incoming and outgoing flights with little noise. We started planning our return trip while we were there and look forward to returning to the Albatroz soon!

If it’s your first time in Madeira I’d suggest staying somewhere in city center, it takes 15 mins to get to this hotel. Very nice property and amenities. The staff and service is weak , shortage of staff. The breakfast buffet for a 5 starvhotel and the price was so weak as weak.
