” the former Commercial Councilor, Director, and brandy heir of the Wilthener family, Fritz Hünlich. The villa was built as a wedding gift from his father on the occasion of his marriage to Amanda Friese, the daughter of an industrialist. Fritz was passionate about aviation and hosted regular “smoking parties” at the house until his untimely death in 1931.

This comfortable and very spacious 4-room apartment, spanning 110 square meters with a view of the Oberlausitz from the rotunda, features a spacious living lounge, a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and dining area, a bright bathroom with a bathtub, and three tastefully decorated bedrooms that sleep 6 people. The highlight of the apartment is the “Butterfly Room,” furnished with great attention to detail and featuring a four-poster bed. A private parking space is available right at the entrance, and you’re welcome to enjoy a lovely corner of the garden as well as our play equipment, including a trampoline. If needed, we’re happy to provide up to two cribs and high chairs. In addition to two televisions, you’ll find a washing machine, ironing supplies, Wi-Fi, and a game set. And a small library offers good reading material on interesting and essential topics. And if you’d like, we can provide a DVD player, electric blanket, fan, space heater, whirlpool bath, or a back massager. The vacation rental is very cozy and attractively furnished in the “Century style.” You can access “Fritz” through your separate entrance and an elegant staircase.

Right across the street, you’ll find a cozy restaurant, a small café, and a supermarket. And just as important: Enjoy the numerous cultural attractions in the area, do something for your health—for example, at the Körse-Therme Kirschau, just a three-minute drive away—visit Bautzen, Görlitz, or Löbau; explore the Zittau Mountains; discover the “hidden gems” in the greatly underrated lignite region; explore the Sorbian cultural region; and, of course, visit our very own Dresden and the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. And you’ll notice that you’re right next to the brandy distillery: “Next door,” you can take a guided tour of the distillery featuring the famous “World’s Fair Barrel.” And don’t miss out on a tasting while you’re there! Whatever you decide to do, our vacation rental is the perfect starting point for wonderful days and interesting explorations.

The historic building itself was constructed in 1913. In its early decades, the industrialist’s villa served as the Hünlich family’s home and business headquarters, as well as a venue for important social events. The first Zeppelin flight of the airship “Sachsen,” with the Hünlichs on board, passed over the estate. And the first aerial photographs of Wilthen were taken. During the GDR era, the house served as a kindergarten and later as a doctor’s office before being taken over in 2008 by legendary musician Adolf Kiertscher. Today, the villa houses a mental health practice with an educational center. And if you pay close attention, you’ll encounter him: Our Pumphut—the master of legends in Upper Lusatia and the patron saint of our town of Wilthen.
