![A world of subterranean wonders, a milestone in geological discoveries, Luray caverns, is a wonderful weekend getaway for those who are living near DC or Virginia. It is around 2 hours (or more) drive from washington DC.
This is a picture of the "Dream Lake", a spring of water which has a mirror-like appearance. Stalactites are reflected in the water making them appear to be stalagmites. This gives an illusion that the lake is deeper. The lake is connected to a spring that continues deeper into the caverns.
All in all, it was my first time exploring caverns. It was a fun filled day, learning the stories of the cavern.

Tips: 
1) It is very crowded on weekends and holidays. If you want to enjoy peaceful, slow paced, less crowded tour of the caverns, go on weekdays.
2) If you visit the caverns, look for these things-
Saracen's tent - scarves and shawls of translucent calcite, falling in graceful folds, fringed with a thousand patterns, and so thin that a candle light can reveal the structure within!
The fried eggs formation - yes, it looks like fried eggs ;)
The Great Stalacpipe Organ - An actual organ which plays music- sounds of Stalactites! DO NOT miss this one!

« Everything was perfect and actually more than what we expected. We had been in the area had booked a room at a hotel but then we heard about West End Flats, we checked it out and we were very impressed. On the other hand, we had booked a hotel online and not really satisfied with it. We are, ordinary people, but we still like a room that is clean and does not have a horrible smell.It's just we had booked it in already checked in. It was too late to get reimbursement. It was worth the one time...

« Its the giant house on the side of the road, parking is by the tree on the hill. Arriving at night was hard to tell, with many small houses around the big house, and drive ways small. Dont let this fool you, this is to help you find it, as the place is amazing to stay. There are many rooms to stay in this house. This one is on 2nd floor, around tight nit stairs on top left. Room photos do not do it justice, its a bedroom / hallwall with bathroom, and den (spare room) very cozy, den is nice and...
