"My wife and I were very impressed with Barbara’s hideaway. The cottage was clean, functional, and out of the way but still fairly close to all the wonderful little towns and chateaus in the valley. The private pool was a treat and we felt like we were the only people around for miles yet Barbara was there anytime we had a question. "Location, location, location! Very old part of the city and some areas around are not in good shape! The apartment does not have internet but is otherwise well equipped. The view of the Loire out the front windows is lovely. Nice to watch the boats go by. If elderly with lots of luggage, this apartment is not for you! Very old narrow winding staircase to the apartment on the top floor! The proprietor is lovely and very helpful!!!"

"Charming very clean little wooden chalet with a lovely view over the lakes from a large balcony with sunloungers and a table for 6. Set on a small family run camping site it is in beautiful grounds. Luxurious hotel and gardens

"This was truly a gem within walking distance to the town centre. We adored the gardens, lobby and resting areas, and the spacious room and the pool. The interior furnishings were luxurious. The owners have great pride in the place and attention to detail shows at every corner. The only letdown was the small number of staff, that impacts the service a bit. Still it is excellent value nd recommend to stay more than a couple days to truly enjoy the place. "

"Great stay, staff very attentive and friendly! Lovely room we were upgraded to which had fantastic views of the river. Unfortunately, when we went to bed we could only turn aircon down to 21C and it was a hot night. Reported it in the morning and they were going to have a look and rectify problem!"

"Everything was wonderful. I stayed there 5 days and tried everything, le petit déjeuner delicious, le dîner incredible ! Only thing I didn’t know is that I had to pay extra to enjoy the jacuzzi (why isn’t it included ?). I needed it to warm up bc coming from Miami, the drop in temperature was brutal :). But it’s ok I still loved it ! Thank you !"

Convenient and welcoming

"Hotel Ibis is convenient for those travelling to Saumur by train-- property is literally right across street from station. Friendly service ( I can speak a bit of French; they could speak some English so all good for check-in, etc! Also.one staffer who was fully bilingual.). Good breakfast in pleasant dining area. Also a cozy bar and in nice weather a courtyard. There is a v.good Italian restaurant next door, and cafe 2 blocks away. You will want to go into Saumur Centre-- a 15 minute walk over 2 bridges. Lots to explore and many eating choices there. "
