The staff go above and beyond to satisfy customer needs. The evening food is excellent. The car park also has 4nr Osprey destination chargers, ideal for my plug in hybrid for overnight charging. The car park is large, well lit and safe for overnight parking.

Value for money.
It's a very friendly hotel. The room was clean & cozy. The restaurant also very good and I didn't need to find a place to eat. Excellent for a night or two and explore the nearby area.

Not the cleanest place I’ve ever been! The water glass had lipstick marks on them, a a used tissue in the floor from previous guests! Requested room to be cleaned, they just spread the bed with no care at all! Floor carpet was not hovered when I went in and the next day was still the same! Stayed for 2 nights and I said to myself never again!

We enjoyed the food and the staff very good the room was another thing. The bed was excellent and comfortable. the room was nothing like you expedia sold us. the toilet seat was broken the curtains etc were very tired wood work black and rotten. Saying the above we did enjoy our stay mainly because of the atmosphere and the staff being great and attentive,

Unique building our room over the back area very very noisy.smokers outside loud voices lots of very load door slamming, Main meals good.continental breakfast practically non existent.no croissants or pan au chocolat available after only 10 minutes into breakfast opening or any yogurt with fruit .so it’s toast or cereal and that’s it.will not be staying again

Short break
On arrival we found that our room wasn't ready so we were given a free drink at the bar we finally got into our room a16.45. We had booked a table in the bar that evening the manager said that the drinks would be on the house so we had a nice bottle of wine with our food. All the staff were friendly and helpful which made our stay nice and comfortable. Would definitely go back again.

Lovely place that is slipping a bit
I love this hotel for its location and outlook and have stayed here a few times over the years. I have stayed 4 nights in the past 2 weeks and the location and outlook still don't disappoint. Unfortunately, the condition and cleanliness of the rooms was really poor, with dirty floors and toilets in my rooms and a general lack of care for the place. I realise they are short staffed, but there can be no excuse for wee around the toilet pan and down the sides, nail clippings on the floor (along with bits of loo paper) and handing over rooms that just didn't look like they'd been cleaned. On a positive, the staff were all very friendly and the food was reasonable.

The pub hotel is situated in a lovely location and the rooms were clean and nice. Food was very pub food and would have like a few more healthy options on menu. Unfortunately boiler broke so no hot water for a shower in the morning.

We had two rooms. One of the rooms had dirty marks on the pillow case, the standalone radiator stood up in the wardrobe had dirty marks running down the side and the bath treads looked very dirty. The other room the bedside table needed an extra clean. We weren't in our accommodation for long enough to speak to anyone as we arrived late evening. Overall the outside setting looked very pleasant.

Restaurant lovely, accommodation could be better
The restaurant evening food is by far the best part of the stay. Our room (20) looked really lovely, however there was a strong, sharp cannabis smell emanating from somewhere in the room. We opened the patio doors to let some fresh air in, unfortunately we had to close this at night and when we were out of the room for security reasons. The fresh air vent had been painted over, so ventilation was very poor during the summers evening where an open window would have been beneficial leading to a stuffy room with no let up from whatever was causing the smell. Breakfast was OK, but the elderly lady serving didn’t seem to be helpful or friendly. The coffee (made by same elderly woman) didn’t look like coffee and certainly didn’t taste like coffee. There was a huge crack in a glass of orange juice, when it was brought to the ladies attention, she took it away but didn’t bring us another glass. We were also told ‘I’m busy’ by the same person when we asked for more orange juice as the container was empty. The cooked breakfast was nice, but it took nearly half an hour after seating before taking our order, and then another 20mins before it arrived. If the establishment lavished even half the care it takes over the evening restaurant on the hotel and breakfast side it would be a massive improvement.

Lovely setting for a short stay
Simple but large room with large bathroom. Clean and comfortable beds. TV and WiFi worked well. Lovely setting next to river and accessible by bus from Exeter. Quick, friendly service to check in. Restaurant was expensive though, and manager not the friendliest.
