The hotel is very tired and desperately need an update. The blind in my room did not work the bathpanel was taped in place and there was no bath plug. No info in rooms regarding Hotel (e.g. WIFI code) The bed was very comfortable and linen was clean. Breakfast was mediocre at best. I don't think I will be back

Was upgraded as Room 6 very small and old fashioned. Not happy to pay £5 to park in the hotel car park (hotel doesn't own the car park behind it). This could, and I am sure will once again, become a destination hotel and I'm aware that renovation work is ongoing. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Best situated hotel in the town (central). I wish the hotel success in the future.

Bad stay
Stared before and this time was given a room just up the stairs. Got in the room and looked very old and rundown. Piece of wood strung between 2 walls with 1 coat hanger on it. Window had an old set of blinds that just did not work, windows were old and would not shut and the rain (not hotels fault) was dripping down from a faulty cutter on to the window making a hell of a noise. So asked to be moved which they did. Second room I was given again up stairs walked in and the ceiling had a great split in it with water pouring through down on to the bed. Asked to be moved again. They gave me one of the garden rooms which was OK just dated and dull. On arrival with another guest at the same time. no one was at reception. Hit the bell no one came. called the number given if reception empty and it rang the phone at reception. In all waited 15 minutes before someone came to book in. Had breakfast included so went down and 3 other people there with one waitress who gave the impression that she would rather be elsewhere. Overall very poor and needs shutting down or refurbing. will not be staying there again.

The hotel was fine . The sad thing is the pub across from room 15 was so ridiculously loud till 02.00 hrs . No one could do anything about it . Spoilt our weekend

We found the spread Eagle to be a very friendly hotel. Breakfast was delicious. would recommend.

Value market town hotel...
This is just a tired hotel. The staff and management are friendly enough, the bed was comfy, fan appreciated, the food was good, and breakfast excellent, it just needs a head to toe refresh. Covid and Brexit obviously hasn't helped and getting experienced staff seems to be a challenge. But the component parts were all good enough and if you want to stay in Thame, this is a great option. Thank you for looking after us.

Very disappointing
Very disappointing. Stayed in an Economy room. On arrival a dirty towel in the room. Asked for a replacement never received. Bathroom very outdated. Room very outdated with terrible dust under the bed. We have stayed in many hotels and one of the worst. Will not be returning.

Needs a lot of improvement decorating wise. Public bar and restaurant were good. Stair ways and hall ways needed a good clean and vacuum. Bathroom door did not close. Blown plaster and damp on ceilings Decor in room needs updating, lamp shades were tatty and not even straight.

We have had some water damage in that room which has not been dealt with the day after you stayThe carpet up to the top floor is a challenging colour and even after vacumming looks like we have not cleaned it. We are hoping this year to get new corridor carpets as getting wornI will however speak with our housekeeping team on ensuring the light shades are straight and they ensure they increase how regular they vacuum the carpetsRobert thanks for your feedbackKind regards

Great location and nice staff but needs investment
I like staying in this hotel as the location is great for going out in Thame. However, it is becoming quite run down now and really needs facelifting in all of the bedrooms. I also wish that proper curtains could be invested in, because the tiny blinds on the huge front facing windows, really do very little to keep light out of the bedroom. the staff here are very friendly and helpful

4 night stay.
Bryan and the staff were very friendly, and while the quality of the room was to be expected from a historic building, the place is in need of a deep clean throughout the building, and 2 out of 3 of our curtains were broken along with the fan in the bathroom that didn’t work, but I’ve read they’re slowly renovating so look forward to that as the place has a lot of potential. Breakfast was nice each day (we stayed for 4 nights over Christmas) but PLEASE change the coffee at breakfast. It was incredibly stale and awful each morning, I do think the bravilator bonamat coffee machine from 70’s used for breakfast could use a deep clean (or replacing) is the reason for this. Shame when there’s a full barista style coffee machine on the bar not being used. We weren’t alone on this as many tables around us each morning also complained about the coffee. We were told house keeping wouldn’t be available over Christmas Day (fair) but then our room wasn’t attended too any other day. The tap for the basin has definitely not been cleaned in some time. The girl on the desk was happy to give us fresh towel and toilet roll though. Otherwise a pleasant enough stay.

The hotel is very tired and when this happens in a 15th Century hotel it also feel dirty but our standards of cleaning are very strong.We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the futureKind regards

Disapointing.
Our room 30 was as expected in an listed hotel, wonky floors and ceiling which not a problem.. The furniture was scratched and chipped as was the paintwork on the window. In all the room was tired. The bathroom was quite large but the wash basin was only suitable for a loo and not really suitable for a bathroom. The biggest surprise was that NO room service was to be provided during a 3 night stay. Due to COVID restrictions which did not appear to be in place anywhere else in the hotel. This seemed odd to us as in other hotels we have stayed in since the pandemic room servicing was done , even during periods of social distancing, dining pods and mask wearing. Breakfast was not bad, but at times service was slow.. If you travel by car make sure that you pay for car parking at the hotel otherwise a fine is payable.
