"Staying at this hotel was an incredible and unique experience! The way the old prison has been transformed into a modern hotel is absolutely brilliant. The historic atmosphere is preserved perfectly, and the clean rooms are very comfortable. The staff is clearly understaffed and overwhelmed with duties, but they work incredibly hard and do their absolute best to keep the atmosphere and everything else perfect. "Beautiful hotel and the best part about it were the Staff. Amazing staff who go above and beyond to make one’s stay memorable. Shout out to the staff at the dinner restaurant who are so amazing and even made drinks not on the menu. Hotel is close to eveything and a short uber ride to the center. I’m glad I stayed here as it’s less crowded and peaceful. The rooms are amazing and the shower is real good. And Lastly the breakfast is really really good. Will def stay again."

"Overall, we were quite satisfied with our stay at Poppies. When we first arrived, I was honestly a little shocked by how small the room was. It was even smaller than I had expected, and the facilities were extremely basic. There was no hair dryer, no microwave, and not even conditioner. The whole place has a very minimalist style, so if you are expecting a traditional hotel room with lots of amenities, this may take some getting used to. However, after staying for a couple of days, we gradually got used to the small space and actually found the hotel quite practical. The staff were very friendly and helpful, which made a big difference. The location also turned out to be more convenient than we initially thought. Bus 391 stops nearby and takes you directly to Zaanse Schans, which was perfect for our day trip to see the windmills. If you are a reasonably fast walker, you can also walk to Amsterdam Central Station in about 25 minutes. Considering the price, especially compared with many hotels in Amsterdam, I think Poppies offers pretty good value for money. The room is definitely very small and the amenities are limited, but if you mainly need a clean, affordable place to sleep and don’t mind a minimalist setup, it’s a good choice. Overall, a pleasant stay and good value for the price."

"Attractive waterside location and easily accessible from Centraal Station using the 48 bus to Koivistokade (although there seemed to be nowhere to buy tickets for the return journey). Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well-equipped. The only problem I encountered was a system error relating to add-ons to the booking. Shortly before the stay I received a message offering a range of extras and chose the buffet breakfast but this request was not registered and I had to re-book breakfast on arrival with the help of the front desk staff. Around 10 hours after I checked out I received a further message stating " Breakfast Buffet is not available in the chosen set-up "."

"Overall I enjoyed my stay at Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station. The hotel was close to the train station which meant it was easy to get out and about. The room I stayed in was very spacious with ample room to move about. The bathroom was also larger than expected. The only minor dissatisfaction with the room was I could see the Girl with the Pearl Earring painting in the room had what looked like some liquid streak on it which you could see at an angle, as well as some liquid streaks on the door that opened up the area for where the kettle is. One thing of note to anyone looking to stay at this particular hotel. There are major roadworks going on in front of the hotel which means the access to the train station is to go around the roadworks which isn't a lot more walking but still a detour to direct access. Whilst we were there which was over the weekend and a couple of days into the week there wasn't any actual work so there was not any noise disturbance. However, I can imagine that being an issue for hotel guests when work is going on outside the hotel."
