About this property
Indian Pass Fun, Private & Cozy Beach Cottage--The Barnacle
Enjoy your vacation at this fabulous round house in a tree-filled setting, tastefully decorated, located on the tip of Indian Pass. Indian Pass is located at the extreme west end of Apalachicola Bay where it flows into the Gulf of Mexico. This conflux of fresh and saltwater makes one the most fertile estuarine areas of the world. While the area was settled by Native Americans for thousands of years and then again by the early European explorers modern civilization has conveniently skipped us over. Long Known as Florida's 'Forgotten Coast' most of the inhabitants here have fins or feathers. No high rises or motels but miles of unspoiled beaches, succulent oysters, world class fishing and spectacular sunsets. Beachcombers are greeted by miles of shells, fossilized shark teeth and pottery shards from our earliest inhabitants. This comfortable two-bedroom, two bath retreat offers lots of privacy in a natural setting, approx. 150 ft. from the beach. It does not have a view of the beach, but it is on the boardwalk where you will see a beautiful panoramic view of the beach and St. Vincent's. Back at The Barnacle, you have a wrap-around deck with chairs and a very slight view of Indian Lagoon, lots of wildlife, and great birding. Explore St. Vincent's Island across the Pass. Bring your kayaks, canoes, fishing poles, binoculars, and camera. Excellent fishing and crabbing, shelling and long walks on miles of pristine beach. Private and peaceful.

We loved staying at The Barnacle! Great location and a cozy cottage. The owners were excellent communicators and were helpful whenever needed. Highly recommended. We hope to return sometime soon.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Barnacle! It’s everything the beach should be! House is adorable and beach access is great! Hosts very responsive!
Cute little place perfect for our small travel group. The beach is only about 30 steps from the door (Literally a set of stairs over the dunes). The owners were quick to respond to any of our challenges on our trip. The lack of surf (St Vincent’s Island blocks the waves) was the only downer for our 2 12 year old travelers.Very quiet and restful vacation location.
Great property just off the beach. Short walk to the water over the dune by steps behind the main house. There is no view of the beach from the Barnacle, but close proximity to all the action. Very comfortable & private with all the amenities!
We loved our stay at the Barnacle! The property was exactly as described, loved the wrap around windows and deck. The neighborhood was quiet and beaches not remotely crowded, perfect for a peaceful retreat. It was our first time at Indian Pass as we were looking for a dog friendly beach and house. Our hosts made it so easy to enjoy by providing nearly everything we needed. Janice was so nice and friendly and quick with communication! We would love to stay here again on our next trip Indian Pass!
This was our 3rd time to stay in the Barnacle. We absolutely loved it. The hosts are awesome and the golf cart made finding the perfect beach spot a breeze.
We love Indian Pass for its laid back atmosphere. You truly feel like you are at a home away from home. Quite area with great food and entertainment a short drive away.
We had a wonderful time. The property was excellent and the hosts were extremely helpful and friendly. We highly recommend the hosts and the location. We also rented the golf cart which makes finding that perfect spot on the beach a breeze.
Very comfortable & relaxing stay, definitely out of the intensity and hustle & bustle of the majority of Florida. Fishing off the beach was very good. Clean & well equipped.
The house is beautiful and cozy.
Completely surrounded by native tropical plants, you feel like Robinson Crusoe, lost on a deserted island. It's a short walk over the boardwalk to the beach and also to the boat ramp. Beautiful sunsets over the bay from the front porch! We can't wait to go back!
Beautiful home. Hardwood floors are awesome. Beautiful path to the beach with nice incorporation of the trees. All the necessary amenities. Bald Eagle next door visited us every day. Secluded even being close to the road. Highly recommend.
I’ll start by saying Janis and victor are incredible hosts! Very responsive and kind. Their home is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a relaxing secluded beach vacay with your pups! Beach access is very secluded and accessible. The home itself is very clean and well stocked. We look forward to returning next summer ❤️
We just finished a week long stay on Indian Pass Beach in the Barnacle and it was an excellent trip.
We’ve rented homes on Indian Pass for the last 7 years and of the different homes we’ve rented, the Barnacle is one of our absolute favorites.
The home itself was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed.
The property owners were wonderful and quick to respond to any questions we had. Overall, our stay at the Barnacle was a wonderful and calming experience and I will certainly be renting it again in the future.
Cozy home atmosphere. Very well equipped with everything we needed. Great kitchen. Comfortable beds too. Loved the wrap around deck. Lots of steps down to beach. Not ideal for our large dog. We used the boat landing for access to beach. Worked great. We had a wonderful time there. Got to explore a lot of the gulf coast. Restaurants were awesome. Our host were absolutely helpful. Would definitely stay again!
The house is very nice and has everything you need. The bed was so comfortable! I came with my sister, mom and aunt. I rented a golf cart to get to the beach which is a must as the stairs to the beach are horrible especially for older people. The beach was awesome with no people there and I found huge shells which made me really happy. I liked being on the end of the island as it was quite - we were there Easter week and it was perfect weather with a perfect place to stay. Janis was very helpful and very nice. I hope I can come back sometime in the future!
Property accurately described. Enjoyed the trees around the house and watching the birds, lizards and squirrels in the bird bath. I might suggest renting a golf cart if you have a lot of items to carry to the beach. It would be challenging to navigate the stairs from the house to the beach if you had chairs, cooler, fishing poles, umbrella etc. The convenience of loading into a cart and driving vs struggling was wonderful.
The property was everything as advertised. A very relaxing and wonderful stay. One possible issue...stairs climbing over the dunes. Solution...rent the club cart! Lifesaver!!!!! Would do it again!
The Barnacle is funky in a very good way. Leave behind the stressful part of your life. Come here, walk the beach, collect some shells, cast a line, enjoy the sunrises and sunsets, read that novel, or wrire it, eat some of the best oysters you'll ever get, revel in the unspoiled beauty. Simply relax, unwind and rediscover all that is good about quiet places with not so many people.
We had a nice week and our hosts were very communicative and responded to all concerns or questions quickly.
Pros:
Well stocked.
Washer dryer.
Hose very near to clean up sand.
Comfortable and cool.
Cons:
Lots of steps to beach.
No privacy with walls not going to the ceiling.
Janis and Victor are great hosts, they answered all questions right away( we asked very few). The house is very cute, practically round, lots of windows sarrounded by palms trees and lot of green. Everything was spotless and the best silverware and appliances. We enjoyed very much finding the golf car on the beach especially for sunset. If you rent it, I suggest you rent it.
Weather dampened our vacation with rain the whole time. Bad storms, tornado warnings. Difficult to get to the beach because of multiple steps up and down. We rented the owners golf cart which was a life saver until the storm washed out the beach entrabce.
entrance to the beach
The property was very much as described. While you can't see the Gulf, you are only a sand dune away. It was perfect for my wife dog and me. A great place to be on the beach. Please read the description carefully because there are a lot of stairs to navigate for the property and beach. That was not an issue for us. The owners were much nicer to speak with than the signage inside the house would reflect. It really is a hang at the beach place.
