Such a wonderful relaxing place to stay. Restaurant on site really nice, spa pools a lovely bonus. Such a beautiful part of the Coromandel. Would definitely recommend this property.

Need a vacation from your vacation? Tangiaro Retreat is the spot. The cabins are possibly the nicest we enjoyed in years and the staff is more than accommodating. The food (including oysters) was marvelous or bring your own provisions. The porch is the perfect spot to spend an evening with a bottle of wine, the bird calls and vistas of the surrounding forest and your family/partner. If you don’t spend a week here, you will wish you had.

Tangiaro Kiwi Retreat is amazing! The room was huge and had everything you could need and more. The bush walk to the swimming-hole was so cool as well. Had dinner and a massage onsite. Both were wonderful. Definately coming back again! Host was also very helpful and kind.

it was the perfect place to relax and not think about work, after the shock of no internet, that turned out to be a blessing, but the staff where nice enough to let me use the land line to check in at home

Lovely environment and spacious rooms. Beds were extremely comfortable. We attended on 30 degree days and although they provided a fan, air-conditioning would have made it more comfortable. Cafe didn't open until 10am which was a very late coffee for morning people. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

It was amazing hearing kiwi sounds at night so close to us and the property was so nice, efficient and clean. Short walks were amazing, the manager David was fantastically helpful. Would love to come back here again, already recommended to family members.

Beautiful quiet retreat and wonderful open air spa in the evening... heard a male kiwi call only thirty seconds after going outside to listen for one... hard to beat! Staff were lovely and very helpful.

A very special peaceful setting. This was our second stay at Tangiaro and we will be back. Meal on Friday evening was excellent and price of meal and bar very reasonable. Stoney Bay Craft beer great.

It was like driving into a resort. Totally relaxing amongst nature. Staff are super friendly. Walk to the creek and a dip in the pool was so refreshing. Spa and massage area was heaven. Restaurant and cafe was beautiful. Beautiful and serene place and very private. Wish we had stayed more days.

The property was a relaxed haven as described. The reception hours are very tight but there always seemed to be someone to help us out outside of working hours. There was a small mixup with one of the spas but everything else was great. Perfect to explore the Coromandel peninsula.

great spot hidden away in the forest. awsome cabbins fully kittrd out with everything we needed. and the rib eye steak would have to be the best steak i have ever had.

A lovely place to stay but need to make it clear that no meals are served after 5pm on a Sunday as closest shop 2hour drive away on bad roads. We were fortunate to catch staff before they left and were able to get some food to prepare ourselves They were very accommodating.

Peace and quiet in lovely setting.
Really enjoyed our 3 day stay here. The two bedroom cabin was beautifully decorated, well equipped and modern. There is no AC but wasn't needed even in hot weather. The staff were friendly and there's a lovely restaurant on site. New management since December. It's not far off the road and took us about an hour from Coromandel I think. No problems in a small car on the partly gravel (but partly twisty) road but harder in pre sunset light. There is some free WiFi in the restaurant area. We enjoyed the river walk to the gorgeous swimming hole (easier to walk in the river sometimes) and had the luxury of a hot tub (total 4) in the trees near the restaurant/ reception area. We went to the beach at little, and big, sandy bay, and walked part of the coastal walk to Port Jackson. Great for people who enjoy the outdoors, nature and some peace!

A nice place in the bush
Enjoyed the bush walk and spa. The retreat really is a long way from anything so you need to go with that in mind. Food at the restaurant was good and the setting was beautiful as well as comfortable. Everyone working there was friendly.

Outstanding
Never expected to find such an amazing place to stay in such a remote location. Exceeded all expectations by far. Its a slow journey to get to Tangiaro on the gravel roads but most definitely worth the effort. Our Lodge was superb and the staff were extra helpful and friendly. Highly recommend for a peaceful getaway in a unique and special location.

Ome of the best places I've stayed in NZ. The inly thing is I would suggest some free Wifi to guests as the place is not cheap so one expects this. Other than that, its amazing.

Very nice cabin with lovely wooden interior. Surrounded by bush and birdsong in the evening and at dawn. Well equipped kitchen. No cell phone reception, No WiFi.

Relaxing Bush Stay
We only stayed one night with 2 teenagers but this was a very comfortable & relaxing stay. The girls loved the stream walk & swim in the cool swimming hole, finished off with a relaxing spa amidst the tress & native bush. Listening to the birds & tree life whilst sitting back in the spa pool was very relaxing. The fact that there was little internet was a bonus in getting the girls off their devices and into games & reading. The restaurant was very comfortable with a good menu & food. Certainly recommend this as a place to chill out for a couple of days. The beaches are a short drive away.

Good stay.
It was rather pleasant. Was in the middle of nowhere, so trying to get food and find a place to shop was difficult. But was good to be away from civilisation. Very clean resort, away from everything. Was happily surprised.

The Best Retreat
We arrived after a long journey from Auckland all the staff were very helpful, we stayed for two days had great breakfasts and even better diners The Retreat was very well set out and had everything we could ask for We drove to a close beach that was not that busy so made our day thee very pleasurable We took a walk in the stream up to a dipping pool that was also very nice

The perfect get away
We were looking for a relaxing get away for our 1st anniversary and searched and searched with a handful of criteria. It had to be private, good food, beautiful scenery and a spa or bath. It had everything and some. The cottage was made with the highest quality and everything was perfect. We will be returning for the next 70 years
