The best area to stay in Pancán is generally within the main town centre, particularly around the Plaza de Armas. This central area offers the most convenience for visitors, with most of Pancán's limited accommodation and dining options clustered within a few blocks of the main square. The Plaza de Armas itself is a pleasant green space, often bustling with local life, and nearby streets like Jirón Bolognesi and Jirón Lima are where you'll find small shops and eateries. It's a compact area, making it easy to navigate on foot. For travellers looking for a base to explore the region's natural beauty and cultural sites, staying near the Plaza de Armas is ideal. From here, you can easily arrange transport for excursions to places like the Laguna de Paca or the archaeological site of Tunanmarca.

The best time to go to Pancán is during the dry season, which runs from May to October.During these months, you'll experience sunny days, clear skies, and comfortably warm temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty and cultural sites. The lack of rain means hiking trails are more accessible and outdoor activities are more enjoyable. This period is particularly good for couples or solo travellers looking to fully experience the Andean landscapes without weather interruptions. While the dry season is generally preferred, the shoulder months of April and November can also be pleasant. You might encounter occasional showers, but the landscapes are often greener, and there are fewer visitors, offering a more tranquil experience.
