About this property

Off-Grid Glamping Close to Beaches

  • This lovely home is clean, newer, beautifully decorated, comfy, cozy, nestled in the tropical jungle, close to beaches and designed for ultra comfortable off-grid living. Off-Grid home with solar system installed in late March 2024. Propane range, refrigerator and instant hot water, plus an extra fridge on back lanai. We understand that for our guests, comfort and convenience is everything. Please read *NOTE below.

Relax & Rejuvenate in this cozy jungle retreat. Surrounded by native Hawaiian flowering Ohia trees, coconut trees and palms, wild orchids, native Ti, edible fruit trees such as apple bananas, Meyers lemon, lime, starfruit, avocado, cacao, and numerous beautiful Hawaiian flowers including anthurium, jade, bromeliad, ginger, hibiscus, vanilla, and orchids. Numerous species of birds live here and harmonize beautiful melodies. Unplug and unwind while you immerse yourself in wonderful nature at it's best!

Tropical, lush and green with fresh clean air (literally the cleanest air on earth!) and a multitude of fabulous things to see and do. The prevailing trade winds blow from just the right direction to keep the temperature pleasant all year round. Usually it rains at night and is sunny during the days - perfect for keeping things lush and green!

At night, Coqui frogs lull you to sleep It's especially exciting when we get an intense rain torrent at night, as the sounds are awesome. Wake up to a multitude of birds singing their morning melodies. You will see cute green geckos here - don't worry they won't sleep with you, as they are afraid of humans :)
10 minutes to historic Pahoa Village with the Puna Kai shopping center, restaurants, groceries, hardware, gas, boutique shops, hippie shops and medical facilities.

You'll find a guest book at the house with details and directions to spectacular spots all within just a few miles from the home, including some 'secret spots' that you will not find in any tourist book.

This is the perfect spot for nature lovers, adventure seekers, families, those who want to get away from it all, and those who do not depend on TV for entertainment while vacationing. Internet and cell phone usage is Hawaiian Telcom high speed fiber optic, very fast and reliable.

Here in Puna, we are blessed to have so many great things to see and do. Here you will find pristine waters and the cleanest air on earth. Our home is just minutes to the scenic coastal Red Road, and black sand beaches such as Kalapana, Kehena and Pohoiki. Get a massage, dance, or just spend time at the healing retreat of Kalani. Enjoy a fabulous hike along the kings trail to the white sand beach called Shipman's. Relax in the natural geo-thermically heated hot pool called the queens bath at Pohoiki as well as the new black sand beach and surfing at Isaac Hale beach park, fishing at Mackenzie Park, spelunking, lava viewing, natural steam vents, fantastic markets and the historic village of Pahoa with it's quaint outdoor market, hippie shops, family-friendly and fine dining. Puna is known to be a hippie friendly destination. Peace and Love.

Unpretentious Puna is famous for its relaxed pace, artisans, hippies and Farmers Markets.
Each Friday the Puna Kai center in Pahoa Town has an open-air market. Every Sunday, just up Hwy 130 you'll find the biggest, best and most diversified farmer's markets in the entire Hawaiian Island chain - The Saturday Kai'Mu market at Uncle Roberts and the Sunday Maku'u market, both nearby, very fun and offering everything you would expect and much more including fresh local produce, live plants, local artists, import merchants, local cuisine, live music and dancing. You may even be able to take in a hula show! Eat, drink & be merry! Sway to the rhythm of authentic Hawaiian slack key and ukulele and enjoy the sense of community here.
    *NOTE:
We do want to be clear about what exactly “Off Grid” means: It is basically glamping. This could mean leaving the hairdryer at home, not running heaters all night or limiting device charging. Many places that are 100 percent off grid reap energy in the daylight hours from solar and store during the night. This will mean they need to conserve energy so the batteries don’t drain overnight. It is not advised for those who need to be plugged in all night to things like a C-PAP machine or other health devices. Or it may mean being more considerate than usual of water use, such as shorter showers if a place is relying on rainwater. We are on a water catchment system, so endless water and long, lingering showers are not realistic. Remember, being off-grid can also relate to our own actions as individuals – we can increase our sense of being off-grid simply by putting our phones away and disconnecting. If you are unable to appreciate being unplugged and having a chance to unwind and relax, this may not be the place for you. It is beautiful, but it is absolutely Off the Grid Glamping.
