This is the best hotel in the area. Most rooms view out toward monument valley. We got lucky with our room and could sit outside at sunset and watch the sky change colors over the buttes. Valley Drive, located near the Utah-Arizona state line in Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, is a 17-mile scenic loop through one of the most iconic landscapes in the Southwest, USA. This spot along the road is named John Ford Point, after the director who used it as a location for numerous Western films. Visitors can pay a few dollars to a local horse owner who is stationed in the parking lot to recreate the famous image of a horse rider perched on the edge of the plateau. This horse was aptly named “Pistol”.
