Falsely represented. The property was filthy and unsafe. None of the windows opened. There was broken furniture, fixtures, broken shower, missing floor boards, doors that couldn’t close (& lock), and a loose handrail.The master suite had so much mold damage to one of the walls it looked like it was about to collapse. The bedding was soiled and smelled like a person who hadn’t bathed. We went to clean our own linens after no help from the host, and were surprised to find that there was no bleach or laundry sanitizer anywhere. We had to buy new linens. There was a rodent trap in the entryway, a cockroach trap with a cockroach in it, and pillows in the living room that reeked of cat urine. The door knobs were literally falling off, and we had to convince the host to come and help us get back into the house one day. We waited for over twenty minutes for him to arrive, standing in the heat with our 91 year old grandmother. He was far from apologetic. The patio furniture on the back deck was covered in mold and mildew from being left out for god-knows how long. The only garbage can outside was filled with beer bottles and garbage. Other garbage was strewn across the back patio next to a broken bench. The host was extremely nonchalant, and failed to resolve our issues. He has the homes “historic” status as a way to avoid responsibility for his lack of management and its filthy condition. I highly advise against staying here, it looks nothing like its photos.
