Monemvasia has managed to capture and maintain the feel of an ancient fortification while giving one the comforts of modern civilization (indoor plumbing!) The Likinia Hotel is well located, about a 5 minute walk away from the main street and sufficiently separated. At times you even have the feeling that you have the whole fortress to yourself. Since the family room was the last available option, we had an entire apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms to ourselves. The rooms were very clean and spacious, especially for just two individuals. We recommend booking well in advance or checking with the hotel directly so that you can get an appropriately sized room and allow more people to experience the place :) The staff were kind and even helped with our bag up the final winding route to the room. The breakfast was a smaller spread but comprised of very high quality food in our opinion. The complimentary bottle of wine for the stay (a regional variety) was also a nice touch. The view from the room was also quite nice and we could look out onto the sea over the tops of other buildings. It was a really nice experience. We would recommend the hotel for it's location and will consider going back if we visit Monemvasia again." We booked a Tower room with view and were upgraded to a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite with living room and dining room. This was HUGE! Front desk gave me a yoga mat for my room upon request. The wine provided as a gift was great. And the bottled water was generously replenished daily. The bath products were excellent. Breakfast was pretty good, including fresh figs one day! Spa was also excellent. I highly recommend this property. The hotel also provided free transfer service from the ferry port.
