Experience the pristine waterways of the Gippsland Lakes from Metung, a cozy waterfront town perched on a narrow peninsula jutting into Lake King. The town has been a fishing outpost since the 19th century and there’s no limit to its beautiful lakeside views as you look out from the town’s marinas and jetties. Embark on a sightseeing cruise around Australia’s largest inland network of waterways or relax with a coastal stroll along the long boardwalk that skirts the town. Metung’s portside heritage can be seen in its historic architecture. Check out the Metung Hotel, which dates back to 1873\. Wander around the town centre and enjoy easy access to beautiful Bancroft Bay and the adjacent wharf. The Metung Boardwalk runs along the town’s eastern coastline from the centre of town on the tip of the narrow peninsula and stretches north as the coastline wraps around the wide arc of Bancroft Bay.
