Kanuka lodge is one of the 2 Eco-chalets situated on a 5ha section in Mt Lyford. The north facing wide windowed front of the lodge captures the ever changing view of Mt Lyford. Whether you relax in the lounge or on your private patio, or look out of the window of your bedroom this majestic mountain will pull you into exploring it.

Kanuka Lodge is a brand new high quality holiday home with a split level entry. The wood features give the lodge it’s unique character, from huge wooden beams on the ceiling to handcrafted towel rails in the bathroom. A cozy logfire heats up the lodge in no time.

The lounge is classy with wide opening doors to create an easy access to the private sunny deck with outdoor furniture. The comfy leather lounge suite gives you pleanty of opportunity to study Mt Lyford and surrounding landscape from your warm cocoon. If you are lucky you might spot some wild deer on the 5ha property! A fully equipped kitchen with ground concrete benchtop will help you to create a superb holiday meal. A heavy oak dining table offers ample space to have a great meal together.

The 3 bedrooms offer the option for sleeping 3 couples or 6 singles. The superkingsize beds in the 2 main bedrooms are comfortable and covered with warm duvets. The 3rd bedroom could be classed as ‘kids quarters’ with 2 king singles and a sturdy bunkbed. The modern downstairs bathroom has a basin, toilet and shower while upstairs a second bathroom is supplied with toilet and basin. Internet access is available.The two eco lodges are side by side, but still give you plenty of privacy. The accommodation is warm and comfortable and will give you an unforgettable holiday.

A wood fired hot tub on the patio (extra cost) provides the perfect excuse for sitting outside at night gazing at the stars and listening to the frogs. You might hear the call of the local owl (morepork) while you’re studying the galaxies. A truly unique experience.
Note that bedlinens are not standard included but can be arranged on request. No cell phone coverage but wifi is provided.

Amazing lodge with stunning views
An incredibly beautiful location. Everything was lovely within the lodge. Spacious for 2 teenagers and 3 adults. Lovely short walks around lodge abundance longer walks up the road.

Lovely location but isolated
Mt Lyford is beautiful and our host was very friendly and accommodating. The property was as advertised and, although a duplex, it is very private and we were completely unaware of any neighbors when there were some present. We booked this property for the first half of our 6-week stay in New Zealand and although it was lovely, in retrospect it was a bit too long given the driving distance to obtain basic necessities (min. 20 minutes) as well as to reach various hiking tracks or sight seeing destinations. We were also a bit surprised by the unpaved gravel road up Mt. Lyford, and regretted our choice of a compact rental cart. Finally, although the house had some impressive ecco-features, we were baffled by the absence of any place to put our clothes, as there were no closets, dressers or drawers of any kind, except a storage closet filled with other items. The kitchen also lacked any place for food storage except the refrigerator, although the countertop worked fine. These minor inconveniences did not detract from the beautiful setting and the many different vistas of Mt. Lyford in changing weather. Thank you Claudine for your assistance with everything! We loved our time in this well-appointed house. Great kitchen for entertaining, with inside and outside tables plus excellent bathrooms and comfortable bedrooms. Location is scenic, with walks, tennis court and swimming hole all at hand.

Fabulous getaway awesome hot tub!
Brilliant slice of paradise. A relaxing Alpine adventure. The house was perfectly equipped and the hot tub was incredible. Also the property managers were amazing. Highly recommend for a family break.

Really enjoyed our stay, but be aware that mobile reception is very challenging. You need to drive to the top of the mountain to get a bar. This place is for someone who wants to get away from it all and watch the stars from the woodfired hottub. Please be aware that if you want to go on any of the hikes you need to book in advance.

Sophisticated classy and serene
Absolutely loved our stay at the lodge, such beautiful grounds with beautiful views, a peaceful atmosphere and ultimate comfort escaping the cold in the hot tub. Super friendly and helpful staff too, would definitely recommend staying.
