Enjoy OBX endless beach shorelines, calm ocean tides, tranquil walking, biking or jogging through the beautiful maritime neighborhood of Chicahauk. New kitchen, new bathrooms and upscale furnishings to make your stay feel as if you are on vacation. Expansive deck with lounge furniture overlooking a beautiful natural yard.Watch nature at it's finest while relaxing outside. Come home after your day at the beach and take a relaxing soak in our cedar outdoor shower with a clawfoot tub. Brand new hot tub overlooking maritime forest. Fish from the canal at the back of property. Truly a picturesque and serene environment to spend your vacation time.
We offer an oceanfront parking pass to make your trip easy and convenient a rare amenity in the OBX, no need to lug all the equipment on a long walk. Or you can choose to walk along the beach path the nearest ocean front access 10-12 minutes away. After exploring the Outer Banks or after a sunny day at the beach come back to the beautiful home, rest on the fabulous screen porch, drinks and appetizers in hand, spend the evenings lounging on the oversize sectional in the great room being together. This is place is how a vacation should feel and look.

The name of this house truly reflects my family’s experience—a peaceful retreat. It provided comfortable accommodations for my parents and four teenagers. The proximity to the beach allowed our teens convenient and quick walkable access. The spacious garage, equipped with various amenities, the fully equipped kitchen, tastefully decorated bedrooms, a large sectional sofa, and the well-maintained jacuzzi contributed to a memorable and enjoyable family vacation.The owner and the neighbors were very friendly and helpful.

Perfect Location on OBX

We had a great time at Colleen’s place. The house is beautiful and well decorated with everything we needed for a great vacation. It’s only a two minute drive to the beach but within a wooded setting and close to the main OBX attractions. We actually saw deer here! We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to the OBX!

Wedding week for our daughter

This property is in a nice, quiet area. The yard is spectacular and the area is well lit. At the end of the day, when the night cooled down we enjoyed sitting in the yard. The outside shower was incredible and my daughter particularly enjoyed the hot tub. I must say that we also enjoyed the deer that would walk through every now and then. I would definitely stay here again if we travel back to OBX.

Perfect in every way

Relaxing Getaway!

Beautiful inside and out

This home is clean, beautifully decorated and has a gorgeous yard with a great view of the local wildlife. It was nice to be away from the busy main roads and areas. The house is well stocked, especially the kitchen. We will be back!

Absolute oasis

This property was perfect for our family of four plus dogs. There was plenty of space and we particularly enjoyed the screened in porch. The location was great. Very quiet area but close enough to all the action in either nags head or duck. We really appreciated the parking passes for nearby beach access even though it was a short bike ride. So happy you provided beach chairs and bikes. We would definitely stay again!

Perfect house!

This house was one of the prettiest I've stayed at in the OBX. The owner must be a decorator from HGTV. In spite of the relentless Memorial weekend rain, we had a wonderful stay. The bedrooms were perfect for an all-adults weekend. I would definitely rebook this house.

Beautiful Coastal Retreat

We loved staying here during our first trip to OBX, and would absolutely stay again. The house is beautiful and thoughtfully designed with high end furniture choices. There was plenty of room for everyone, featuring a large sectional to watch movies in the evening. The sun porch is a lovely place to watch the deer along the canal and play games. The kitchen is well appointed, and had everything we needed for family dinners. I would absolutely recommend.

Lovely home

Very well equipped clean and tastefully decorated home. My husband and son really enjoyed fishing in the canal and the beach was easily accessible by car or a short walk. The ping pong table in the garage was also a big hit!

Great place for a family and a dog

The place was exactly as described. Communication with the owner was easy and quick. Check-in and check-out were very easy. Access to the beach was easy via 10 minute walk or three minute drive. Having beach chairs, umbrellas, toys, and bikes there already was an added bonus for the family. We would stay here again for sure.

Calm and comforting oasis. A real home away from home.

I always feel pressured to leave a 5-star rating so often skip reviewing but this time I can offer honest feedback without hesitation. This home's decor is comfortable AND beautiful - a difficult combination to master. I even contacted the owner to ask where she purchased some artwork. Everything in the house is high quality. The screened porch was perfect for morning coffee and for watching deer walk along the canal at dusk. The neighborhood is peaceful and when I was out walking my dogs several neighbors stopped to talk. I've visited some vacation rentals where neighbors were unfriendly so that was refreshing. The front and back yard are professionally landscaped and maintained so the views, both inside and out, are pleasant. This cozy neighborhood is unique in that it has mature hardwoods which not only add a homey feel but offer some much appreciated shade on sweltering days. We visited in mid-May and were often the only people parked in the nearby beach parking lot and there were usually just a handful of folks on the beach. Duck Donuts (yum!) was nearby as were grocery stores and restaurants. I would recommend this home to anyone and after driving the entire length of the Outer Banks my husband and I felt so lucky we'd picked this home for our stay.

Amazing Oasis in OBX

Our active family of 4 had never been to the Outer Banks, and this property in Southern Shores was an incredible haven for our first trip to the NC coast! The owners are very helpful and communicative, and they have put so much care and attention into every detail of this renovated home. It looks like a home straight out of HGTV! The beds, linens and kitchen utensils are all really high quality. This made such a difference in our stay because we lacked for nothing in the kitchen and we all slept like babies every night! The decor is beachy and fun, high quality without being precious or stuffy. After staying in so many vacation rentals, this home won top prize from every single member of the family for comfort, location, value and style. It is officially the best home we’ve ever had the privilege of renting. The backyard is so unique and filled with amenities. We loved sitting in the screened in porch, looking out at the canal in the morning and afternoon. The neighborhood is quiet and a very quick drive or walk to the beach. The ping pong table in the garage was a huge hit with our kids! This home is one in a million, you won’t find anything else like it in NC. We will definitely plan to rent this beautiful oasis again!

Great Home & Location!

My wife & I have a home in the same neighborhood undergoing a renovation. Unfortunately due to COVID it's taken twice as long as anyone hoped. We came up from Florida with our dog to spend a little over a week checking in on progress and enjoying the beautiful early fall weather. We have stayed in many vacation rentals. Most leave us feeling underwhelmed. This was a welcomed exception! It was just perfect! The owners have done a wonderful job updating the home. The decor is modern yet beachy. Bright and airy. I suspect they use the house often as well because the furnishings are quality. Two steps above what you normally find in a "rental". The kitchen was stocked with everything you might actually have at home. From salad and mixing bowls to lemon squeezers and an assortment of good quality pots and pans. A special thank you to the owners for having wine glasses made from actual glass! Daring .. but MUCH appreciated! I know we are biased ( since we have a home in the neighborhood) but in our opinion it's impossible to beat the Southern Shores area when visiting the OBX. It sits right between the quaint Duck / Corolla areas to the north and the boisterous Kitty Hawk / Kill Devil Hills areas to the south. It's one of the few heavily tree'd areas in the entire OBX so you get the benefit of water & forest. Speaking of water, We didn't realize it when we booked but this home sits on one of the quiet canals that heads out to the Sound. We sat out on the covered , screened in porch every morning for coffee and every night with a glass of wine staring at the water through the trees as we talked. Unfortunately we didn't get a lot of time to enjoy the ocean but we did walk to it 2-3 times in the mornings. It's a nice little walk and if you want to spend the day, the owners provide a parking pass to the private beach for Southern Shores residents & guests. If our home isn't finished within the next few months we will absolutely book this home again. Lastly, for pet owners.. the owners did a great job with the flooring in this home. There was absolutely zero "pet smell" Additionally, the front and back yard are huge!

Great house in perfect location!

Our family of 5 adults and 2 children enjoyed our stay at the Beech House. The location was great. We preferred to drive to the beach during the day when we had beach gear with us- parking was plentiful. We enjoyed walking to the beach at night when we didn't have as much to carry. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for our week away! Colleen was a great host!
