This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. We rented a golf cart for transportation during the stay and the power hook up to charge at our building wasn’t working so that was inconvenient. Luckily we had other family there in different buildings and power hook up at theirs worked. The staff was helpful while there which is more then you know appreciated. The complex was very quiet and we were lucky to have a third-floor unit with a nice view from the balcony and some of the windows. There are a lot of great recreational amenities in this complex, although not all of them were in top condition or well-maintained. Still, for the price we thought that this was a really good value. The complex is very large and nicely situated, right on the beach on the ocean side and a few minutes’ walk to the sound side and the Duck boardwalk. We really appreciated the indoor and outdoor pools, the Pickleball court, the hot tub, but there were also lots of other recreational options, like basketball and volleyball, corn hole, even outdoor chess. The apartment was nicely, appointed and clean, if a little dated in the kitchen and bathrooms.
